4.5 year old device, yo. The play store and the app store are going to pull the plug on Redacted for not being up to current generation standards, they've been kind to let Redacted hang around for so long, as is. Start saving up for a new phone.
It pains me to say this, and I know it's not what you're going to want to hear, but the moto e2 is nearly a 5 year phone. Look i've been loud in my disapproval of prime over the last year. It has a crappy, ugly, ui in my opinion, it's a data hog (which can be a benefit depending on the circumstances,) and it uses battery like Google Chrome eats ram. And yeah, prime runs like a hog-tied hog at supper time. I am not looking forward to using it at anomalies when redacted/ingress 1.x would would barely make it through a whole anomaly without crashing. I say this and i'm on an iPhone XS. Prime runs okay for me... but it still crashes after a few hours of play. If it weren't tragic, it would be expected.
But the moto e2 is almost 5 years old, dude. It might be time to invest in a new phone. You can find Pixel 2s all day long on Swappa and ebay for about ~$150ish. The Pixel 4 is gonna be out in October or something, so the Pixel 3 prices should drop. The 3a is essentially a 3 but with slightly worse hardware/processor, but it's still a really great flagship killer. Pixel 3s were recently on sale for half off, and I think the 3a was like $100 or $150 off $400... which is a really great deal. What i'm saying is: it's probably time to upgrade. Phones usually have a planned obsolescence around 3 or 4 years, i've noticed. The lith-ion batteries certainly lose their capacity in that time as well. I'm don't advocate that people go out and buy flagships every year. But every 3-4 years is certainly within the realm of a possible expense you can plan for.
Always had cheap phones and played with the old scanner or Redacted until i finally bought a powerful phone not 2 years ago (OP 5T) and I was sooo happy that I could finally play.without any lags. Now I am back to performance issues with Prime. Not really into buying a new phone just because of that.
I know this is not going to be a popular opinion, but... I've been into PC gaming for nearly 3 decades and I like to see games that push the limits of current technology. While current mobile tech doesnt seem to be keeping up with Moore's law as well in recent years, it still holds true that today's cutting edge will be tomorrow's obsolete.
It's always been the case that there will be new games to challenge the limits of current hardware, and I realize that not everyone is always happy about that.
"no way these graphics should require 8GB of video card RAM!"
"I shouldn't need an SSD just to play this!"
"My 486 can't run this game!"
"No way I should have to install a separate sound card!"
"640k should be enough for anybody!"
I'm not saying that excuses game code being unoptimized, or horribly buggy, but all those animations that drain our batteries today will seem like nothing to the next generation of phone hardware.
@SrGillespie then you may need to reconsider your priorities if you need to weigh up getting a new phone to play a mobile game against paying for your education.

I will miss redacted. Still, I believe Prime will improve in the coming days. It has to.
