The problem with PoGo and PoIs is that in PoGo simply the more the better. In Ingress a new portal is also a potential blocker for your operation, so quality matters more. Especially bad portals like private residential property are very bad for ingress.
Quality will no longer matter for Ingress once Ingress is shutdown, at that point only quantity will matter which PoGo will be able to manage that with its large userbase. So the very problem with PoGo and POIs becomes a moot point when you remove Ingress entirely from the picture which is what will happen if Ingress does not at least generate enough revenue to cover its own cost of upkeep.
Already forgot about the Pokemon Go trespassing lawsuit? Inappropriate Pokestops cause no negative effect to the game but may cause to the landowners . Will Pogo players have any interest to reject private residential property nominations?
Yeah, if Niantic actually sticks to their end of the agreement and reviews a statistically significant amount of submissions. Just remove/limit OPR from anyone who disagrees with their auditors
Lawsuit doesnt effect Ingress though, only PoGo. PokeStops have been removed from PoGo before without actually removing the base portal for Ingress. So once again, the presence or lack of presence of Ingress is moot when it comes to portal approval. Not to mention the fact there are bad submissions accross either PoGo or Ingress, this does not mean PoGo players should not be able to submit portals freely. If anything, I'd argue the more PoGo POI reviewers the better as more stops will be approved quickly and respectively denied more quickly for invalid submissions so the playerbase will end up learning to do proper submissions faster. In the end, this will allow PoGo POI to be even more efficient than Ingress POI ever was. Just look at Niantic's other apps that came before Ingress that are now shutdown.
