I tried several usernames I usually use but they all were already taken so... The first part is a short version of my name and the second part was probably inspired by watching some space movie, I don't exactly remember 😅
SpiderWolve is a character name I came up with years ago when I was in my teens and was in to (and had time) for online chat role playing. Spider Wolve was the character 'hero' name as he was a genetic combination of Spider-Man and Wolverine. The name stuck and I use it everywhere now.
But now that I think about it, I sure should have used that hyphen.
A long, long time ago, in the previous century I wrote spoof made up horoscopes (spolier: all horoscopes are made up) for a student newspaper under the pseudonym "Identity Crisis".
That or the shortened firm "idcrisis" became one of my go to online names.
When I started Ingress I picked idcrisis as it was the quickest to tap out on a mobile.
I had no idea that the game and that name would become a major part of my life for 6 years and counting.
(Some if the local Enl call me "midlife crisis". Lol.)
Completely choose it at random just for this game by putting two randomish words together until I liked the sound of it. Don't believe the lies, I'm not a ninja and I like to think I'm not clumsy either.
I really enjoyed the Honor Harrington books by David Webber and the really liked the character of Thomas Theisman in them, so I appropriated the surname as IGN.
Had 5 or 6 people ask me if im Icelandic as they assumed it came from there
Back in the days of Modern Warfare on the PS3. I was known, self-proclaimed Best Noob Murderer after playing the game for several years I started to teach people how not to be a noob. This was he start of my dream job, as a digitalist artist and a streamer.
Or maybe I'm just too much of a noob to know that they are one in the same.
My name is an alteration of my old steam name which was TheModFox, mainly because I liked foxes, I wanted it to be TheMadFox but that was taken, Then I realised that it sounded quite **** so I now use MadFaux, which I love
Simple I fish for a living and other commercial fishermen are usually scared when they see my old clunker coming plus Fishermansfriend was to long of a IGN 😋 just call me Fishyfear all my friends do
Lots of people have asked about my IGN and I've never really given all of the story, just parts of it, or let them assume what they wanted. It's kind of embarrassing. Because I work in IT, lots of people think the gnu part of my name is related to GNU, the operating system. But, it's not really. When it came time to figure out my Ingress IGN, I was at a point in my life where I was working on embracing who I am. I've always felt very socially awkward and self conscious. I was 6'2" in 6th grade, but at the time, I was all arms and legs...no good at sports. lacking coordination, made fun of a lot because of my awkwardness. I tried to play soccer, and people laughed and said I ran like a Gnu. It was meant to be an insult. Over the years, I became a very philosophical kind of person...the struggle to find and accept myself turned me into somewhat of a mystic - in any RPG I would gravitate to that kind of character. So, when it came to choosing my IGN for Ingress, I actually sat in front of a Name Generator app and kept clicking through, looking for an idea. Mystical Gnu popped up and I said Yes! That is me! I embrace my inner Gnu because of how it has contributed to the more mystical side of me. So, MysticalGnu I am and always will be. An awkward looking animal with a heart that believes we can all be better than we are, that the world can be a better place, that together, we can change the world.
I started as Thod some 35 years ago in my first Play by Mail Game - Starweb - playing an Empire Builder.
I took the name from the Riddlemaster trilogy (German Edition) as it is the name of the harper who also has a different identity.
It stuck - many years later when I looked for a company name I founded Thod’s Bazaar.
When I started in PokemonGo Thod was taken. I have a Dr as title in my real name (several years after I started playing) - so the title was added to allow me to keep Thod.
No one asked before, with my original IGN. Had it changed but a smurf got it and somehow the name is not recyclable.
So I got this and tweaked it a bit.
Truth to be told, the origin to my ingame name is not that interesting to anyone, and the reasons are quite personal and meaningful to me. Something like why I like Fight Club the book, simply because of the story that happened around it.
My name can be flipped 180 degrees and it reads the same (depending on the font choice as M and W are not always symmetric with one another). I like the symmetry.
So you want to know where Makto came from? The Age of Makto was an era of time as marked by the Tkon Empire that occurred some 600,000 years ago. This Age took place after the Age of Xora.It was during the Age of Makto that the central star of that empire went nova This event lead to the eventual decline and collapse of the Empire. Star Trek Next Generation (The Last Outpost)
Interestingly it appeared again which I find curious
A Toruk Makto is a Na'vi individual who successfully manages to ride a great leonoptryx (Na'vi name: toruk). There had only been five Toruk Maktos prior to Jake Sully. and they are spoken of with great respect and honour. Using the prestige of the position, Jake unified the Na'vi against the RDA and led them to victory in the **** on the Tree of Souls. Toruk Makto translates as "Rider of the Last Shadow"

Just the neighborhood in the city I live in. Smurfs know where to visit me.

"gaga" Means crazy with us, that along with a modified form of my first name.

I’ve been called Rosey by friends for years, one of whom expanded it to Rosey Macdoo (no idea why!) and the nickname stuck 💚

@Theisman , When I see you name, only thing I can think of is Joe Theismann. I'm a Redskin fan and I remember his broken leg all too well.
Grendel + Beowulf = grendelwulf.
I don't remember when I first used it. Years ago on the internet. It's all lowercase because I too am humble.
