Feature Parity - Can't skip pointless animations.
The first few times when starting out, seeing a link or field animation is fine, but you learn that to actually get any building done, you can skip the animations via the back button on your phone. In Redacted this works great and allows for fast building especially if you are on transit. In Prime, EVERYTHING has some animation that is played, all the way down to upgrading a resonator. I can't imagine why anyone would need to view fluff animations when they are trying to do anything especially in a high portal density area. In Prime the back button does not skip these pointless animations. Due to these animations all task's time is tripled to the extent of making any attempts at building, even while walking, frustrating at best. Options to address this:
1. Disable fluff animations checkbox. (Yay!)
2. Allow the back button command to skip the current screen action.
3. Stop cramming the application with graphic information; it currently hogs more than triple the amount than Redacted did.
Thanks

And if you think you can hit the (X) on the linking display to abort the animation for the currently in progress link, think again. Odds are it will actually cancel that link, you might not notice, and then you'll have missed one side of a field layer, or the fly link, and feel put out when you do notice later.
Yup, that happened to me. Now I wait through the agonising animations to be sure. Please allow both 'back' and the (X) button to cancel only the animations!
There is no animation to cancel. When creating a link you can just continue. The links / fields are created in parallel and you don't have to wait for anything. Therefore, linking and fielding is a lot faster in Prime than compared to Redacted.
I swear Prime doesn't allow you to swipe along the key/portal carousel whilst link is in progress. I've not tried tapping on adjacent portals in the carousel, and that would be a bad way of swapping from a close to a distant portal in a long list anyway.
I might be mis-remembering from earlier Prime versions where you were forced back to the view of the carousel it expected once it had done linking. There's some reason I learned to not even try selecting another portal until the link was done (along with the (X) issue I outlined above).
@NineBerry you are utterly incorrect. There is a full 5 seconds of a small animation first in the carousel, then another 5 to 6 seconds when it goes to a new camera view showing a flash of color (closeup angle of portal and portal photo), then another 3 seconds of a floaty weird link / field thing that is all limp and blanket - looking that leaves the blob and connects off in the distance to where it was sent. It looks like the former weirdo floaty graphics that used to overlay all links and fields way back when prime was in beta. It's about a full 15 seconds in total. I have no idea what game you are playing, but it's not ingress.
It also does not allow you to do anything at all, until those animations are finished. I have tried everything and as someone has already mentioned, not even hitting the X button works, as most often it will cancel your link.
I am on Android, so I have no idea what magic you have to make it work differently, but what you have claimed does not happen for myself, nor ten other agents that I know.
In Redacted, you can skip all of the animations and can essentially nonstop link and deploy. You can not do so in Prime currently, let alone deploying is a clunky nightmare in itself since every single resonator deploy forces a small 1 second animation which just slows down deploying and often stutters not letting you deploy unless you repeatedly select the resonator slot. It's as if it derps out and forgot that you were deploying.
@argenex are you mistaking Prime for Redacted?
Because it is completely the opposite of what you are saying.
Nope. I removed redacted since I am going to Android 10. I live in high portal density area, everything in prime has animations out the wazoo none of which are skipable, it is extremely hard to build anything due to how slow it is. I looked in prime there is no setting to turn off animations, and I am a member of a very large community that communicates daily, I am not the only person with this issue, it is a prime issue.
The whole reason I'm here posting Parity issues is because prime lacks a severe amount of features that Redacted has, which is why the title says feature Parity.
I am not allowed to reply to people with qoute, it says I'm not allowed to post links. So I have to just reply to the post.
Skipping the linking animation has been implemented in Prime 10 releases ago. Your either not doing something right but I doubt it's a bug
Edit: it was 2.14, that's 16 releases (8 months) ago
If I hit the back button, it dumps the screen, unlike in redacted where it cancels the animation.
If I hit the X, it cancels the link.
What is considered as "Doing something right" in this instance?
Where is the magical skip animation button?
Also not reporting it as a bug, this is the feedback area.
When you press link, the text on the button changes to 2 "larger than" characters (can't post the character as the forum automatically creates a quote when doing so)
Pressing that button skips the animation.
No need to press back or x
You can literally just mash that button and links will be made in seconds
(Do note that there is a bug introduced in 2.29 that fails some links)
Good Lord that worked it goes right past and kept linking!
It still showed a field animation, will it skip past that if I keep linking? In my test atm I ran out, I will try later specifically where multiple fields and links will go up.
Thank you! 🤩
My other concern is, I want to exit the portal view and go-to another portal, how do I skip the last animation, this is microfielding btw.
@argenex you don't have to wait for the animation, you can just tap on another portal
Exactly, it's too buggy to trust that. I missed a fly link because of this a couple of weeks ago. So now I sit through the interminable animations to be sure I'm actually making the links I think I am (and double-check thge display of links/fields after!).
The linking was stable two releases back. I am confident it will be again in one of the upcoming releases.
