Why isn't the crashing issue in Prime more of a top priority?

When I am playing fairly actively, I can get roughly 30-45 minutes before Prime crashes on my phone. I have a fairly new Pixel 3 phone. This is a flagship phone with more than enough RAM and CPU power to run this game, yet I will always crash like clockwork every half an hour or so. I don't even need to run any other apps or do anything specific. It has crashed on me on almost every single menu or screen in the game (recharging view, inventory, portal view, linking menu, you name it).

I don't have any of these issues with Pokemon GO or Harry Potter WU. In fact, Pokemon GO for me rarely crashes on my Pixel 1 and can often go without crashing for entire update cycles. This makes playing Ingress incredibly difficult, as a lot of actions in Ingress are time sensitive. That, compounded with the fact that when the phone is running hot it can take almost a minute for the game to load back up.

I've been playing on the Prime client for a number of months now and all the other issues aside, the crashing one is the most annoying, with the load time of the game when the phone is hot being a very close second.

Hum I don't agree. The new link bug introduced in 2.29 is far more annoying

I have it to. I must cancel and link again to see portals i can link. I hope Niantic fix it to next uptade.

@redacz app crashing is difficult to track down, and it could be several bugs that can cause it.

App stability is still being worked on on every update, though it may not always be apparent.

Classic in the old days crashed frequently for about a year and a half, before it was truly stable.

prime is a cpu/ram hog thats why it crashes after a while since it uses so much resources from your phone it crashes.. i really hope when redacted dies next month this issue will be fixed otherwise playing in winter when its cold will be a pain :/

  • I played for three hours today and had to restart the app due to freezes or game-breaking incorrectly placed UI elements four times. This doesn't even consider the abysmal performance if the cell tower you're on isn't basically devoid of all other traffic. I tried to submit a portal in Prime on Tuesday in full bars of LTE and it hung for at least five minutes with no response. I eventually just gave up and walked away without submitting. The app quality is still what most people would consider to be beta.

  • Sure the linking issue is incredibly annoying, but the crashing issue has been around for much longer and clearly not as prioritized as it should be, which is my argument.

  • I have the same issue with prime locking up constantly. I have a reasonable android device and Harry potter doesn't lock up nearly as much.

The crashes occur randomly but more often when recharging keys. Typically I have 300 keys out of inventory.

I have raised this with the niantic support and the response was that they cannot reproduce. I know this is a hard problem to track down, but it is a bit of a show stopper having to restart prime every 15 minutes.

Are there any diagnostic logs that can be viewed that show what may have been happening just before the app crashes.

Prime not optimize now. Take lots of battery, cpu and ram. Prime freez when app take extreme lots of power of CPU and Ram. I hope Niantic fix it soon.

  • I have a Note 9 Ingress freezes randomly, won't load sometimes at all, or game won't let me resognate a portal sometimes. I sent mssg my reply was GET A NEW PHONE

  • Pixel 3 here. Prime crashes exactly after 30 minutes of running, be it Fielding or glyphing. What a marvelously unoptimized hunk of trash I have been forced to use versus Redacted which I haven't seen a crash or lockup in over a year in.

  • Both problems, link and freezing are serious, however it seems link problem would be more easy to debug and resolve (because it can be easily reproduced). For me, both are now the more critical and should be moved to top priority.

Crashes every half hour or so is highly predictable, and although not a big problem for myself, others find this infuriating.

We have just had less than a week of Prime only.

And the patch is a "tock" patch of a few things, that were "simple" fixes.

Seems Niantic are in a bit of a tick-tock update cycle

    Big fixes every tick

    Minor fixes every tock.

But I just tried out 2.33 this evening, and the increased vibration is utterly unacceptable. And have raised it as a support ticket.

Thing now vibrates at full power like crazy.

    2.32 was fine

freezing while going to keys inv is also a pain... usually happen atleast twice or more within 1 hour gameplay :(
