Why does NIA give in to spoofers.

    @ThreeCheeseTall

You bring up a lot of things that are not really related to this thread so maybe you might be better off starting new threads but I am happy to reply to some of them.

I recall 2016 very well indeed. There were two organised groups of spoofers in the UK making life hell for regular players. On a couple of occasions the spoof groups even had a battle. The Enlightened managed to infiltrate, out and get the spoof accounts and main accounts run by a group of Enlightened agents banned. It took quite a few months, but the Enlightened also kept reporting the other spoofing group which was suspected of being run by a group of L16 Resistance players around Nottingham. Eventually these resistance players also had their primary accounts banned. Admittedly the accounts banned in 2016 were all one faction. The ones banned in 2017 were the other faction.

The only time I have seen comms evidence presented as "proof" of GPS lock at a flygress portal if anything it proved exactly the opposite. I can't link, but if you read up on flying standard rate turns you will find that aircraft instruments often have one or more standard rate turns marked on their instruments. The ideal way to flygress is to find a pilot that can put his aircraft into a standard rate turn that passes over the portal so you get multiple chances to interact with it. Having been with a pilot trying to do this it takes a little bit of practice at first but is quite possible. There are several standard rate turns that are appropriate for different aircraft types

Rate 1 = 3 degrees/second (2 minute turn) Even airliners can do this.

    Rate 2 = 6 degrees/second (1 minute turn)

    Rate 3 = 9 degrees/second (40 second turn)

Rate 4 = 12 degrees/second (30 second turn) Very tight turn for light aircraft only

Obviously a pilot could do a different rate of turn but I understand that is harder

The comm log I saw presented as evidence of GPS lock had actions every 40 seconds which would suggest a Rate 3 turn.

    Briefly on other points

Stacking is pain in the neck but very hard to prove. Hopefully prime will block that.

"Cheated submissions/Remote submissions" This has been argued about many times. If you want to rehash it maybe you need a new thread here. I notice that now Niantic allow subs from a distance in Prime just like they originally did in redacted. I guess that Niantic don't see it as a big issue. You will be glad to note we fixed the portal photo on Sule Skerry.

Once we have fixed trolling and arguing over exactly what agreements mean maybe we should have a go at world peace ?

Most communities do not let spoofers back in, but at the end of the day it is down to the community to decide. Sadly both the London ENL and the Bristol Res community have allowed spoofers to remain.

That is nice to read. I wonder if everyone affected was notified the same way, the same time :)

Some time ago I was in that same position: RES links were spoofed and I got the chance to crack links for several days. Spoofer was baned less than 24 hours after and me and my mates were called "cheaters", when it was me who asked teammates not to throw blockers after a spoofer xD

What I mean is: Honour comes from players, not factions.

    Peace

Banning spoofers don't give Niant more money. So they don't care. For every player who stop playing, a new spoofer will take his place.

One day Niantic might give up and remove the GPS and include buttons to "walk"...

account got banned (again) portal got restored (3rd time in a week) and now its waiting till they spoof it again and we will set the whole stuff up again.

  • This exactly happened to me, as I exposed some harassing cheaters in comms ... Now I am restricted from comm entirely, no way to appeal this, as they used all their stashes and spoofers to report me for ecposing them....

It's just the wrong way around

  • sort of bs no? spoofers hurt both factions and in turn ruin the game... I would happily report a Enlightened spoofer...

I fully agree with you. Spoofers have no part in the game and I will report the spoofer regardless of affiliation.

  • We now gained control over Fair Isle, and it has already been spoofed numerous times. Shetland has been spoofed by ENL, NL portals spoofed by ENL, Faroe Islands has been spoofed, you name it, it has been spoofed after ENL lost control over Fair Isle. So what does RES do? Whine and say we are going to stop playing? No, we report it and play on.

Btw, how many accounts are you in control of now? 10? You live in a city where there is one active player, you. Yet there are 10 accounts upgrading a few remote portals to make them p8. All lvl8-9 accounts, and they never do anything except upgrade portals you deployed. And in the middle of the night. All accounts have 1 mission, the same.

We had FS in your city, and no ENL showed up, even your teammates from other citys found that very strange.

So you might not be the person to speak about cheating, cause there is no doubt you are cheating.

You even admitted to another ENL player who briefly played in Egersund that "yes, i do play with my nephews account", StealphX.
