@Grogyan IIRC the main argument I've seen from you has to do with location validation, and I don't find it particularly credible for a variety of reasons.
and he yet maintains the position when Niantic has yet to even implement it
There's so many issues with using it as validation when the locations of the portals aren't exact and scanning is just one part of the puzzle. POI can be areas such as entire buildings instead of simple items like sculptures. I don't know why overclock requires this 20 meter distance from the portal when it's not something of accuracy.
My experience of using the Geospatial Browser at a portal that is an entire building is that the building isn't even included in the 3D model - just the road outside, maybe a fence in front of the building, and - if you're very lucky - a tiny section of one wall of the building itself.
Wayspots need to be accurate to within a few metres to trigger a scan or closer for Overclock.
If wayspots are not there, and are further away, put in a move wayspot request.
The counter arguments are just not valid, after following the development of CV for decades, which is part of my interest group of many things including robotics, XR and more.
As a new / young member, I can say that this game really just needs some updates. Yes, it does need to be marketed (hours of life spent on this game because I stumbled across it in the app store), but I think certain things about the ui should be improved as well. I never used the old Ingress and can definitely say Prime looks better, but things like Missions / Scrolling / New agent tutorial is just really confusing. I was never taught about certain core features of the game for a while and eventually learned about them later (eg long pressing hack for a glyph hack).
Some way to get CMU besides $ would be nice. Someone in this thread said higher levels but I think 16 is enough tbh.
Also, I'm just gonna say it. Intel needs to be updated, it has a really old look.
I think this could be a really popular game in 2024; it is not a cool new concept anymore which I think is why it had popularity to begin with (but what do I know) and needs new things. Alright, I'll stop yappin now
This, unlike Catan, however is a game that isn't being played anywhere near enough, and needs a lot more marketing, promotion, to get to Catan level visibility.
I mean, the app might not be beta, but most of the features are released at a beta stage. Heck, we never got our tasks back and it's been almost a year now right?
I'm just glad there's an event now that doesn't involve scanning. If they keep doing these type of events maybe people will start paying more attention. Hopefully they find a way to keep Ingress around for another year.
Now that AgentOps (or Bounties) is a reality, resume the events that were partially or completely cancelled due to the pandemic, in the second half of 2024, i.e.,
Perpetua Hexathlon: partially cancelled
Lexicon Hexathlon: completely cancelled
Requiem Anomaly: completely cancelled, but should be more than just one location this time.
The last NL-1331 tour in Europe took place all the way back during the summer of 2019, Australia and the US had their tours last year, it's time that Europe got a tour this summer.
Add the option to apply for the NL-1331 portal (portal only) as a part of the Mission Day applications as an MD+ version to increase the availability of the NL-1331 event, and boost interest in Mission Days.
Create some marketing videos for Ingress in the style of "The Ingress Report hosted by Susanna Moyer".

This is incorrect
Please refer to the Hexathlon we did last year.
This proves that a players device has no impact on using a task system.
Especially when it is the norm in gaming today.
Please, please please.
Take the time to understand the Computer Vision side of computer science.
It is fascinating and delightful stuff
Then please refer to the patents by Niantic and other AR companies.
@Grogyan Why? Why would I care about CV in the context of Ingress?
Yeah i dont take it for granted, look what they did to fitrep.
You mean we aren’t getting the FitRep rewards that @NianticThia mentioned? 😢
Already explained.
Several times
I mean look at how poorly optimized Lightship AR is with Ingress...you think that would be a great system for the game in the terms of security?

Yes.
My box has to be heavily maintained and monitored to keep it 2:1 my faction.

Yes.
This is a TIMELESS strategy similar to Catan.

but u cant compare to catan as it never left beta
Ingress has left beta.
Has it been revised more than Catan, yes. Nowhere near as many variants, but still Ingress left beta.
Is ingress not being handled properly. Absolutely. It left Beta when it went into the Google Play Store.
I mean I did play Ingress Prime beta and it involved activation through the store

That's fine for some, others actually enjoyed the Overclock challenge.
Weird, I know

They already did that with Superposition.
Huh? Superposition and Requiem are two different anomalies. Besides, Requiem was part of a sequence with two Hexathlon live events.
Is how they announced the anomaly events. That was the "make up" event.
Right. It was as you say a make up event, not the real event.
With Bounties they can now put on the Nemesis Hexathlons events that they cancelled in 2020 plus the Requiem anomaly in more cities that just one.
