Do you have it enabled in Settings? It's possible during the update it turned this off or requires an additional download or it was accidentally turned off while playing.
Also ensure that Ingress has access to your Camera in settings
Do your phone have a gpu that is supported? they changed recently so that alot of older phone models will sadly not be able to scan anymore...
