[Discussion] Ingress 2.128.1 Release Notes

in General
Bug fixes and other improvements
- Redesigned the new agent tutorial to show new recruits how to play before they trek to their first Portal. (The updated tutorial will go live after all agents have updated to the latest Ingress release.)
- Fixed a Wayfarer error message with the Level 10 requirement for Portal edits.

I’ll be interested to see what’s included in the tutorial. Machina? Scanning?
Probably not much of a difference
Will it maybe use the Agent Ops Task System?
Some people need hand holding. Common in most video games.
Maybe. It was meant to, right?
My guess: it's just a few pages/animations of info, no actual actions will need to be done...
At least that's my interpretation of "before they trek to their first portal"
minor text added "you have to move"
I genuinely think that if we don't see Agent Ops with the new tutorial, we'll probably never see it again. I don't like making assumptions on how dev works on Ingress because I have no idea how code works, but during MZFPK, Agent Ops kinda worked, even if it had bugs. I can't imagine that ironing out these bugs would take over 1 1/2 years, so the only other explanation in my head is that the system was dropped.
Where were the release notes for 1.126? And what happened to 1.127?
It would be a shame if we lost it. It has a lot of potential
Probably internal testing builds
been waiting weeks for this update, so stoked!!!

We DO know that Agent Ops are coming, as part of Second Sundays. As it changes from, do Missions, to complete these tasks.
However, as we see in other games, a task system can do a lot on different areas.
The Hexathlon MZFPK Anomaly shows us that a front end UI can work. A lot of the issues were serve side. Being in NZ we got to to see the whole thing being rapidly fixed with multiple issues at midnight NZ time.
IF, and I am speculating here, IF the dev team have got a series of tasks as a learning aid to help onboard new players, Agent Ops would be the way to go.
And as a staged roll out of the Agent Ops Task System.
I did watch a video yester of the current tutorial from a few years ago, and it is a total mess IMO, if I was a new player I would have been totally confused.
Hypothetically speaking, if the new player onboard tutorial using Agent Ops, could have them start out as Red Faction, then have a choice at the end for the blue or green team. Thus COULD make things a little clearer to understand.
They're literally falshbanging us now. Please Nia, make it dark at least...
At least let me have the CORE bag as an avatar.
nice pogo graphics there
judging by the graphics used, it's an inventory bag
Does anyone else find it strange that the new tutorial isn't enabled yet.
Surely most players are now on 2.128.1
It'll happen when they force the upgrade. Not when the majority are upgraded.
Post suggests otherwise.
Past experience too, that new features have been enabled when the majorly have updated thei scanners
https://ingress.com/news/2-128-1-release-notes/
The new tutorial is already enabled, but only for new players that have just started an account. Existing players are still locked out.
2.128.1 was forced last Thursday, I believe.
Please someone, make video with new tutorial! we want to know what inside.
Now that we have a new tutorial, will they work on ways to retain new agents in the game? Will they fix QoL (Quality of Life) issues? Will they pretend to fix the lagg again or just point fingers and blame someone else again? Will they finally decide to advertise Ingress?
I'd tag Brian, but we all know that's utterly useless. And I know we won't get an answer on any of it.
i want know their plans ahead of year 11 what is next to expect new scanning features?
I really hope Year 11 sees AgentOps and keeps players coming back every day to do a few tasks.
I'm much older now than when I first started Ingress, so from my own stand point, I'd rather have some tasks to complete, but I'll still do random things like I usually do.
Agent Ops is going to be a big deal for me throughout 2024.
Everyone else's experience will vary
I think it has become an expected thing on games, and it drives daily user retention by having things like streaks (like for Epoch) and better rewards by doing it consistently too so I think it’ll fit well with Ingress if they get it right.
So, we want a road map for Y11? @joecain 🤣
roadmap? where we going we dont need any roads
I don't think there was any roads to begin with
