New player with a friend, play as two factions?
in General
I haven't played Ingress for a long time due to lack of portals in the area I originally from. I moved to the new location and there are lots more neutral portals. Now I'm back with a new friend as well.
I found out that placing the first resonator will award 775AP, so I wonder it would be optimal to play as two factions, go to places with neutral portals, place one resonator, and flip the portals over and over? That doesn't sound right isn't it?

This is classed as win Trading and is against the ToS
Thanks for the term "win trading". I looked it up a bit but cannot find too much specific scenarios regarding players get punished for it or not. Me and my friend were team Mystic in Pokemon Go, plus two more people (new tenants) in the same house played as Valor. We agreed that it would be more optimal if everyone is in the same team. Ingress' mechanic feels much more different, we will evaluate our options again.
However... isn't win-trading easily prevented by adding an invincible timer to a portal after capturing or attacking? I originally thought there's a cooldown in Ingress. Pokemon Go has a hard limit on flipping a gym because it takes time to beat down a Pokemon 3 times, but Ingress is just one XMP.
Pogo has win Trading as well, and the mitigation measure they put in place is fair.
And it cannot be put into Ingress because Ingress is a much faster and more dynamic game.
Wouldn't it be easily resolved if a player can get a maximum amount of AP (say 5000) from each individual portals per day? The Pokemon Go's mitigation is to require revives and time with little XP rewarded.
On the other hand, I came up with this idea before knowing the term "win-trading" exists. Now maybe I should be glad that my friend haven't chose a faction yet, or else we can never play together.
This game is a faster, fun, and dynamic game ONLY if you have a good opponent and not a stalker.
Win trading isn't against TOS anymore....as IFS is basically a win trading event endorsed by Niantic.
that rule doesnt apply to niantic events but regular play hardly allowed
You would get a lot of dirty looks however if the two of you are rolling together as opposite factions both logically (Intel) and in F2F if you did that.
Like dirty looks aren't exchanged on the regular
More fun be on the same team the dynamics is so much better
Who has actually seen another agent in the field when playing lately? Unless it was a meetup or you were planning on meeting?
Every time I go play there's a group that follows me everywhere I go. It's endearing that they have such a huge obsession with me. They take pictures and video of me. It's kinda like being a celebrity. They actually think they will get me to quit playing by doing it. It's worked on everyone else so far but being one of the last players left on my team I'm getting huge amounts of ap. So it's a win for me. There are people left still out there but they play a different game than me.
Pretty damn recent for me. You do have local ENL?
@EvilSuperHeros I have!
Yes, but those who don't play from their vehicle 99.9$ of the time?
Last time I saw an ENL playing Ingress with at the in person IFS we had a few months ago, before they decided to go back to Virtual. The time before that? Months before, standing near the portal redeploying on it as they tried to drive by **** it.
