Reporting portals?

Hey gang, I have a question about reporting portals.

Recently, I discovered a portal which is no longer valid. The portal is for an “End Of The Trail” sign, which was posted when one of our local multi-use trails had construction paused.

Since then, the trail was completed, and, obviously, the “End Of The Trail” sign was removed, since the trail no longer ends there.

So, I reported it, and my report was rejected.

So, I’m thinking, maybe whoever reviews these rejection reports is using old arial photographs, which still show the trail ending? Maybe?

A bit later, I discover two portals at a trailhead, for the same trailhead sign. The location of one portal is a bit off, but both have an image of the same sign.

So, I reported that one, and that report was also rejected.

That one should have been a no brainer.

My question is, is there an actual process invoked, when someone reports a portal, or is there just some bot rejecting them, with a rubber stamp reply?

Thank you for any insight you can offer.

-Sean

You can appeal these on the wayfarer forums.

The initial report often leads to a rejection because you don´t get the opportunity to show them why the portal should be removed.

Save that rejection mail, screenshot it and go to the 'Invalid Wayspot Appeals' part of the above mentioned Wayfarer forums. Follow the exact format that is shown to you when you create a new post there and you can include any evidence (use geo-tagged photographs, updated street view images and the like, or newspaper articles that describe the removal of certain buildings or landmarks).
