Thanks. That makes it clearer. Not sure you’ll get that but nice to know.
From how it was talked about in the interview I assumed the factions who won Anomalies would get to control/decide what happened next with it or even use it against their opponents.
I don't understand the idea of a protest for this game, I think not playing would show a better picture. Doesn't matter how Niantic will try to fuzz up the numbers.
Why would a game that is about making fields and capturing MU develop in an anti-fielding direction, thats like playing fotball with a tennis ball and tiny goals?
You forgot to mention key duplication removal, keys are needed when fielding. Now more travelling/driving is needed to get keys and more travelling/driving is needed to clear Machina robot links.
@Muzzgood People fielded just fine for years without key duplication.
What's worse is that key duplication really distorted the value of hard-access portals. In the past, using a key to a durable portal required you to think about the value of what you were doing and to conserve keys for important situations. With key duplication a faction could have essentially unlimited keys to durable portals with only a single visit, and they could YOLO to them for years with impunity. Unfortunately, letting key duplication go on for as long as it did has probably broken this permanently because there are thousands of keys to these portals in the wild, and in some cases the portals are nearly inaccessible (though not quite inaccessible enough for Niantic to consider them inaccessible.)
Imagine 10 years ago when the ENTIRE city was Level and all controlled by 1 faction.
I'd say it is way easier nowthan what I had to deal with
Both of these defeat the purpose of Machina entirely.
There are many people who in the past stated very clearly that they have no opposition to play against.
What we have now is Machina being too aggressive in many areas and completely missing in other areas.
Fortunately, the dev team fixed Machina by applying the same check for blocking links as players.
That meant that the devs had to let Machina decay to clear all the crossing links.
What is echoed now by the majority of players, is Machina should decay to neutral after a certain period,
My suggestion is to allow Machina Portals decay to neutral after 2 weeks if the Machina portal is Level 8.
Decay 2 weeks after reaching Level 8, just to be recaptured by the same "faction" in a matter of hours?
At its current rate of expansion Machina will occupy all neutral portals in approx 160 days
Given that I could clear out an area and within a week there was level 8 portals again, that plan just wouldn't work. What really should happen is that when machina is taken out from a portal (and maybe reclaimed?), it should get a protection of 2 weeks after that portal goes neutral. That way no one needs to have endless keys charging one reso so no red comes back
Cancelled long ago. I'll pay for it when it's a game worth paying for
Canceled. I'll pay for a game anytime, but if it's work, I expect to get paid instead.
(Garbage disposal IS work.)
Machina infestation has ended all competition in my entire region. All the wacky links they throw is terrible too. They shouldn't be allowed to throw more than 250m. There's not enough player base to handle even 1/3 of what machina does.
Machina isn't the problem. The lack of players is. Now that every generic fast food and gas station is a portal machina just grows like crazy. Every Starbucks and swing set, the amount of garbage portals is above and beyond what it should be. It's made a gigantic breeding ground for machina. And with no active players anymore it's impossible to keep down. I enjoy it but I'm probably the only one that does. I'm hoping it does lead to more players but I'm not holding my breathe.
Machina sort of IS the problem since it is grabbing almost every portal it can and throwing links from it.
The relentless derp linking is a huge problem and combined with a substantial price hike of the Core subscription and you currently have a very unattractive combo.
Keep machina capping, but nerf or drop the linking.
Except it is the problem. Its not enticing new or retired players in, it's just annoying the majority of current players.
The game has never been the same since prime was pushed on everyone. There was a mass exodus when we had to switch to it. Very few stayed around. There are less playing now than ever before. It's not machina that's the problem. If we had the same numbers of players pre prime then machina wouldn't stand a chance. Now it's the most active player. The game needs players.
As sais, machina is the problem. The lack of players isn't, even with a ton of players rural areas are not going to captured anyway. When I look around the cities where I play, almost nobody goes to those area's so the ree continues.
Hello @NianticOfficial go do something about your beloved bot thing.
Just cancelled my subscription. It'll go one of two ways. Niantic notice people are cancelling and will do something or they'll just let it die.
Not stopping playing just changing the way.
Machina is a problem for many, and the ongoing lag is also a problem so the core increase is hard to justify i guess.
Uh, zero out of 10 from player PoV.
There is definitely half of the player base that hates Machina
The other half that loves it.
We have upcoming events aimed at curbing the growth rate of Machina.
