This is the worst year of Ingress

Starting with the lack of global events accessible to everyone (apart from first Saturday and second Sunday, which are no longer considered events but rather a monthly routine).
An indie game has more monthly events than a game like Ingress with 11 years of experience.
The pay to win system, now you no longer need to hack millions of times to get a precious jarvis or ada refactor, or a softbank ultra link or hypercubes... EVERYTHING can be bought in the store. Kinetic pods ruined the concept of hacking for rare and valuable items.
The number of premium medals was 20 times higher than the medals earned from playing the game.
The implementation of the creation of fields within a larger field ruined the concept of fighting not to be covered by a large cape, of mobilizing to lower it and be able to play again and compete against the enemy faction.
The First Saturday codes are excessive, the hypercubes aren't worth anything anymore, I have close to 400 and I don't need normal power cubes anymore, one code gives me 25 hyper cubes, it's totally crazy.
Machina has benefited cities where there were one or two players but it has made hundreds of players leave the game who are annoyed by the links they cannot make. In the anime we could see that Machinas could make fields, at least that would have been better than just seeing Machina making random links.
And finally the price increase on subscriptions, which is not justified by the little attention they give to the game, the player base and the updates.
Possibly if I start to think more about the game I find many more things to add. Ingress has given me many years of fun, and to see it die like this, without the company even caring at all to promote it on their instagram "@NianticLabs" is incredible. There is not a single publication referring to ingress, but there are publications and stories referring to the game that failed in the NBA.
Every day I see less future for this game, if users raise their voices late they can see it die before being able to do anything.

Its the year of anomalies so for some reason they decided to cut all other global type of events and full focus each month on the 3 location anomalies is my guess 👀
The price increase has nothing to do with how they support Ingress. It's an attempted cash grab for all the other things they've recently ruined and lost tons of money on.
I get that they wanted to do Anomalies and I’m all for that.
I didn’t realise that global events so that everyone could do something and engage with the game would be sacrificed to do so.
Needs to be a better balance.
For the record I didn't post this thread, so there must be other frustrated players out there demanding that niantic do better.
People have been vocal. Machina is too aggressive, without players it takes over areas and never decays. Anomalies coming back is a good thing but unless you live near an event you don't get to participate. It's become too monotonous and everyone simply just got bored. I'm not sure Ingress is their focus, they want the next big thing and have ignored this game. The second Sunday event is the exact same thing every month. The game needs players, new events, promotion. Bring back the old scanner.
Looooooll topkek
Now ingress crashes if your device doesn't support arcore?
"you'll scan or you won't play!"
Lloooollll
Once it forces you to update the game will no longer work unless they fix it in time
Agree with the OP. There's been hardly anything to get people excited who play the game, anomalies are fun but not everyone can go to those.
I'm still waiting for a location close to the central area of Argentina still hahaha
Niantic wants Ingress to become their source of free scans to improve the map in their other games 😂
Agent Ops Task System is delayed until Q4 2023, which is what I believe Brian mentioned about moar events after Yokohama Anomaly last year.
As a task system enables for easier automation of events, as shown by the plethora of other games.
Too many features not enough developers, features get delayed.
That's only if the developers didn't sack back in June...which wasn't the case.
I don't have high hopes especially when they removed it from the anomalies.
Yeah, the task based system will make having small events much simpler I would imagine. I wonder what’s caused the big delay with it (beyond letting go of staff).
Ballmer was right!
Developers developers developers developers!!
The task system, not looking forward to it.
It's just another automation system that will get dull very very quickly.
"**** 10 Machina portals"
"Glyph a L3 portal".
Tasks are only worth doing if the reward is adequate...
I can't think of any reward that would make me do them that isn't OP
daily/weekly tasks could be a thing for those that feel there isnt much motivation besides login and hack daily for sojourner. I wouldnt mind agent ops to replace second sundays that are so boring ,just repeat missions.
Totally true. Something that forces you to make certain actions that you don't want to do for rewards that you don't need effectively
That is a premature statement, as we have no idea what the rewards may be.
I'll reserve judgement until after it come out
Might be waiting quite a while to find out.
Q4 2023 is when we expect it to go live
First time waiting for niantic to honor a time commitment?
but it's not going to be something that will be a messiah to the game, that's why I'm setting expectations low
The person who worked on hexathlons also left the company and that's why it's been in limbo
Like I said before, I will reserve judgement until after it is released.
Too easy to get excited and be let down.
But if I don't expect much and, find out that it is amazing, well, that is something to be really excited about.
I'm willing to bet anyone that we won't have anything amazing this year.
I don't expect anything from this forum and yet they manage to disappoint me. I don't understand how there can be so many "disagree" when the game is practically dead because of all these things that I mentioned at the beginning. This game is really going to die soon.
"The game is dead"
"Why is there a lot of people disagreeing with me? The game is dead!"
In previous discussions, the quote: "The game is dead! Long live the game!" has applied. It's a bad year when looking at global events, that's true. The anomalies are well alive even though I don't agree with some of the locations picked. However, POCs (points of contact) from both factions have made them possible. That effort is and always has been community led. Not trying to impose any guilt tripping because if these anomalies aren't anywhere local near you, of course it's not feasible to help your faction.
For the first time I've signed here to say this - **** YOU NIANTIC
Im playing (with some pauses) since beta, got founder medal, two years of core sub. And I am done paying you anything. ZERO developing, ZERO fixes. Just one bugged unity **** app both on ios and android. And you want my money for that? Maybe it's time to bury this game once and for all. At least stop lying why you want more money. You won't get mine anymore.
You mean lots of incomplete "features". It's Monday. How many times did I see Fitrep this morning? More than 5? Yeah...more than 5. Great feature there.
Previous incarnation of the Task System proved that many folks couldn't get credit for km traveled. Local guy walked a ton for that event. His km didn't budge for the Task System. He opened multiple kcaps that day. But no credit for the Task System. Guess who I haven't seen playing for more than a few months...wonder why? His ticket with Niantic apparently didn't go so well either, even showing that he had completed multiple kcaps during the time frame. Go figure.
Not our fault that they don't have enough devs. We buy CORE, we buy those subscriptions, we buy swag from their store. Agents are most obviously buying gear from the store based on agents who normally don't have any high level gear, to them now frequently having loads of high level gear.
We get it @Grogyan you love Niantic to d34th and they can do no wrong. Now, go get working on that stuper easy Reclaimer badger. Show us how "easy" it is.
Right, we're you in NZ at the stroke of midnight when the Agent Ops went live for MZFPK?
Did you literally panic because you realize that the issues was so serious that there was only a 2 hour window until the Australians would have flooded the forums with complaints about it being completely non functional?
You have some misplaced ideas.
You will note the months I have literally slammed Niantic Corp for not advertising any other products other than pogo. It wasn't Ethan's fault for this.
I still raise the issue with Niantic Corp for their lack of action in this area, which affects not just Ingress but other games too.
