What will this mean, tune existing weapons range or add new type of weapon ?
The big question is:
Will Niantic tell us what it means?
And if they do, will it be before, during or after the event?
Nah, it's an Ingress tradition to install stuff and let us figure out how it works. Some people hate the unknown and wait to others to tell them how it works. Other people love the mystery puzzle and trying to solve it. It encourages people to put their heads together.
I'd love to her people's guesses!
Background: last bulleted item here https://ingress.com/news/2023-l8-weekend/
In the past a similar statement was used and it was a modifier applied to like L6 and L7 bursters to make them temporarily equal to +1 level higher for range and effectiveness during the event.
most likely tuning the range of bursters
Known Niantic they are probably reducing level 8 bursters to level 6 effectiveness to encourage more sales of bursters. Gotta make that money somehow.
Maybe they'll make L8 bursters powerful like they used to be.
I would estimate they're scaling up the range of bursters. Maybe not the damage, but they'll make the lower level XMP help with Machina clearing.
i feel instead of tune xmps just increase drop rate during the event of them instead
Great, but it will be new weapon or tuning of old weapons?
They will make the xmps more efficient. Most agents will go out and get more red. Others will continue to only see two colors.
would be more fun if the event was that red infect random blue and green portals i hate the current formula they can only grow on dead inactive areas ⚡ double r8 isnt cutting it anymore with no badge to hunt
Wouldn't it be more fun, if the XMP's were only tuned to be more powerful against red portals?
It would be more fun to wait until the event starts to speak about it but you already made up your mind.
Nope, then there would be butthurt/angry agents who would quit playing. Imagine you have a field up protecting an area from Machina. Then Machina takes over your anchor...poof goes that field. You can't flip that anchor back. Gotta rebuild before Machina spoofs and derps up your lanes. In my case lately that doesn't work out so well.
Or, Machina takes over portals in your farm...can't flip 'em back...got enough agents to rebuild it? Most areas simply don't.
Where is it?
Do you have recordings of effectiveness of every weapon before and after against same strength resosonators from same distance, to be able to know there is no change???
so no info posted about what this does exactly and we dont know anything. Are we supposed to guess? tuning what the range, damage what?
We still have a week
Community manager when?
Tomorrow is the 8th of August.
There is an outside chance that this Experimental Weapon Tuning will surface tomorrow
Ingress agents actually used to do this once upon a time in redacted.
Needs some cross faction co-op to work it out.
Clearly it is something that is already active but no one has found yet.
When you fine tune something, I have no idea. redacted showed the range of bursters on its inventory and I have no idea with its normal conditions
Ultra strike hack output has been decreased/“tuned”
I think similar to last year, L7 and maybe below are more effective and have wider range. Attacking a high level portal, dead center with a L7 burster had the same amount of damage as a L8.
It better be good. Otherwise....ZZZZ
I didn't realize what I was missing out on until the experimental weapon tuning went live. Its probably the most amazing thing they've done to the game. Good job Niantic.
Last day of event did we not find out what it actually did ?
Our community specialist said we're apparently supposed to figure it out?
