Agent Ops update - July 2023

This morning, Brian has put out a statement with regards to Agent Ops

Maybe it was due to my question about it in regards to Second Sundays, but this is speculative.

Looking at it, Agent Ops requires more development time, and won't be used for the upcoming CTRL Anomalies or Second Sundays until at least Q4 of 2023

We did have the HexQuest back in mid March, which appeared to have been a rush job when Agent Ops were announced for the MZFPK Anomaly HexQuest event.

Maybe a UX/UI overhaul?

@ZeroHecksGiven that is basically what Brian stated with that post

But he is also aware that players were keen on assisting CTRL series, Phase 2 and Phase 3

I reckon that it is good to admit it now, rather than release a half-baked feature riddled with bugs, similar to what we had with MZFPK in March.

Caveat: Like the rest of the new features of the last few year, Agent Ops will still be half-baked and missing a lot of potential.

For now, give them a few more months to flesh it out.

What was wrong with agent ops? worked ok for me. i think they just have lack of dev power due to Ingress not making that much money

Did you expect something else? This is the proprietary development standard of Ingress. Overclock is buggy in 60% of cases, but all is generally keep quiet about this. By the way, there is no cube with shapers yet.

Guess we needed those new server backends after all.

It would be great if Niantic could give us six images we can use to create missions specifically for this event every month. The mission system is so broken it's almost impossible to get missions approved. If they can give us some approved images that would help greatly. Could help encourage more players to take part if there were special missions for the event.

MZFPK event Agent Ops was a very basic implementation of a task system.

There were multiple issues, some you wouldn't know because you're not in New Zealand, I was in direct communication with Thia mere minutes into the event. And because New Zealand is the first country to see a new day, the initial problems were solved pretty fast.

Even so this was obviously a very rushed and basic task system.

Right now i recall it was issues that some agents didnt get ticks on the quests eventho they completed them, hopefully end of year they will have a worked out the issues on that i feel that will be better then doing standard boring 6 missions.

It's kind of disappointing that this Agent Ops isn't going to be seen soon. I really want 2S to progress beyond an empty Mission Day badge.

    Second that.

I enjoyed Mzfpk as it reminds me of Catan. Sniff, sniff...

I'm so tired of the no money argument.

If they are so hard up, maybe they could advertise the game once or twice on social media? But nope.

  • MoogModularMoogModular ✭✭✭✭✭

They definitely need to advertise this game but what would be the graphics to use? The stuff they came out during the Prime launch is perhaps misguided.

yup, u cant grow a game just saying we want increase the userbase, we heard this so many times by now.... and events hello ? like if u dont go anomalies nothing for u to do cmon niantic...... now this agent ops will maybe return in q4 or even that...

  • GrogyanGrogyan ✭✭✭✭✭

New players, more familiar with a task based system of gaming will not enjoy Ingress as much if that is their preferred method of playing games.

Just another reason for the dev team to spend more time on it to get it right
