Will Ingress be part of the reorganization within Niantic Labs?
Niantic recently posted this article: https://nianticlabs.com/news/organizational-update
No word was said about Ingress. What will happen to Ingress in the near future? Will it continue to operate like normal?

Similar thought.
I initially thought that the Ingress will be fine, but after remembering Thia's post on her personal channel an hour ago...
I hope that everyone gets through without being affected too much.
Weird not a single word about ingress, pogo is no brainer its their nr.1 app to keep alive forever more or less.
Big layoffs for sure, over 200 people
Ingress is Niantic owned and part of their core values of location based and community. I bet it stays, but if anything, reduce the amount of folks working on it.
The article said the Los Angeles studio was hit. Assuming that's the same office as Santa Monica / Venice Beach then yeah, Ingress will be affected to some degree.
Reduce it even further? From what, 13 to 5?
How many on the ingress team now?
As far as we know, currently -1 Ethan is no longer with Niantic.
wow Ethan and Dominik got fired this is bad
Ethan and Dominik both weren't directly part of the Ingress team but oversaw more general roles across all the games.
Ethan no longer works for Niantic
For Ingress, that's still pretty significant especially if any of them was in multiple roles.
Damn, that's sad. Really sad.
@NianticHilda gonna do the NL-1331 Van tours?
Hopefully no news is good news...for now. Hopefully.
So from zero to zero?
Thia should not be posting such on her personal blog.
Am hoping Brian and Thia both go. Leadership on Ingress has been truly awful.
I wouldn't be surprised if they just put Ingress on autopilot and focused on bigger things. But you never know. Ingress could make it longer but without players it's starting to show signs of the end. The numbers aren't growing. Events don't create excitement anymore. Nobody took part in the double ap event Tuesday. Literally zero players played that hour. Used to be uncommon to go that long without activity in a 50km range but it's pretty common now. Will Ingress make it longer? Who knows. Cutting costs like that isn't a good sign for any company. If they sell off pogo then you will know it's over for sure.
Well it's no surprise player numbers shrink through natural attrition and ZERO advertising/support for the product. If Ingress does go, the only people to blame are Niantic/Ingress team management.
Nobody? I enjoyed playing blitz Ingress.
The true test is two weeks from last Tuesday in America. ( next Tuesday is a bank holiday so trying to get numbers off that isn't indicative of real numbers).
Giving people 24 hours notice is a real reason "nobody" engaged.
It's Thia's personal channel, she can do whatever she wants.
she just saw 230 of her coworkers be let go
We need real worldwide events, the q3 calendar is sad to see ☹️
The game is alright, who knows about the staff
Thanks a lot for sharing! :) Sounds optimistic :)
As for the staff - I am sure it is very stressful for the people staying as well, but by giving it a little time plus with the right inner motivation and mutual support, everything can be ok :)
I'm happy to hear that Ingress will stay online :)
I'm sure employees have clauses about social media use, personal or not.
Have things gotten better under Brian and Thia, no. Hanke needs to introduce new blood to the team who better understand how the game is actually played and get a community manager back in like Krug who this time actually has some teeth granted by senior management to enact change.
Might want to check your optimism.
Like we keep hear they want grow the userbase, what are they doing exactly ? from the looks of it not much really... no ads ever on ingress only hype pogo and their other new games, ingress barely they even mention :/
Even if they do, Thia has never advertised this channel from her Niantic account. You have to manually find it to access it.
