Store update

I hadn’t noticed these before anyways, and there’s no red dot 🔴 indicating a change.
Guess it’s just the images that have been updated. But it looks much better.

Pay to win, this was the final straw for a lot of people. They've ruined the game.
What should they be doing to make money instead?
I guess they aren't making as much from selling location data and player movement patterns because there's fewer players.
But instead of going full P2W, which NOBODY WANTS, they should shut it down.
They should sell badges, things that don't give a player an advantage just because they can afford it. It feels like the people who run the game have all been replaced and the way things are running now has created an entirely different game
Thanks for the heads up.
My own opinions on it are that it definitely clarifies the purchases.
However, it is too noisy.
Will see how it goes in the long run
global bb events
Didn’t they already do that and a loud section of Agents complained about easy badges?
I liked them myself
The point is more, that @NianticBrian haven't added in a scoreboard which counts faction wins with BBs at each Septicycle CP
and niantic got money at the same time, win win for both...
Y10 the year they sell everything in the store. Gotta keep the lights on somehow.
Let's continue to drive agents away with these crappy charges. From a community based game to a buy it in the store game.
Lagg continues for lost count on how many years now. All previous explanations of what the problem was or blaming other companies still hasn't produced any resolution to the actual issue.
Anomalies in the oddest of locations. Who is at the helm of this ship? Dart board for anomaly locations or monkeys flinging 💩 at the map? Who knows. Maybe they got paid by those locations in some fashion. That seems to be the theme for Y10.
Guess CORE wasn’t doing it so somewhere they’ll have directions to try and make money and thus trying this.
On where they host anomalies, with it starting to get to summer, I would guess it’s a case of “wherever is available” in the country they want. Not sure how far ahead they plan them.
Now i understand why they increased the hacking time and removed the capsules that duplicate items... XD
if nobody buys anything then no money for servers and pay staff, but yeah it seems to be going in the opposite direction hanke promised years ago they wouldnt go..
I think the issue is just that. It was said years ago and the landscape for games and apps has changed since then.
Its not like they aren't on the 2nd subscription run of physical swag, plus CORE, plus all the other store cr4p for the past how many years. Selling game hackable items isn't really the best way to make money. They have all this geo location data that is worth money, but they apparently don't want to sell it.
Edit Maybe if they sold Ingress swag in their online physical swag stores instead of a TON of Niantic swag that no one asked for or seems to want...
There’s quite a few Ingress tees;
as well as Toasty stuff + gloves.
What else do you want?
I would like some apparel with the items on.
I wonder how many players are spending money on swag and the item store not because they want or need the swag or gear, but just because they want to give niantic money so ingress will keep running.
Because I value Ingress, and understanding that the Ingress devs have families and lives of their own, and need to be paid.
Ingress could run ads all the time, but that would ruin the experience of the game.
@NianticThia @NianticBrian although we desperately need new players taking up Ingress. I still value all the work the entire Ingress dev does.
I just disabled event notifications from the app. I've had enough of the "buy core" notification spam they're going into recently.
We need new players, yet no one seems to want to market Ingress.
Then again, most Ingress folks from Niantic have been fairly quiet on the forums, or just about anywhere including social media. Minus Thia's travel channel on Telegram. Others have noted how Brain's social media mostly went dark around a certain period of time this past year.
Lack of engagement with agents, lack of social media usage, lack of lore, increase of hackable items that were stated would never be sold in the store (@ace that one's for you) in the past showing up in larger and larger packs in the store. We are on the 2nd round of subscriptions of physical swag, granted the company sourced to do it, is doing a much better job this time around, so that's a plus.
But what does it mean for Ingress?
Well, your previous players went to other AR games, which are more challenging and entertaining. Other AR games that offer more free items without asking them to do free work such as portal scans for the developer.
Sorry but all this talk of selling swag/income issues is BS.
When they cannot even promote the game in a basically free Instagram post or similar once a week, then all they are doing is increasingly trying to milk more money out of a shrinking audience.
Some advertising to boost player number would mean increased sales - do they do this? No. It's a trainwreck sorry.
Most of our locals quit due to, Spoofing, Multi Accounting, frequent trespassing, deciding their time was better spent elsewhere (families, friends, other hobbies), Prime. In that order.
I never understood why they didn't leverage their multitude of social accounts to advertise. Unless they are afraid of taking active users from their other games.
Yup add in being followed constantly until the player quits and you have my area in a nutshell. You can't even go to a restaurant without the opposition following you in and berating you in front the the entire restaurant with claims of cheating over an app on a cell phone. It's gotten out of hand and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it. Welcome to Ingress.
Hrm, we had similar but going into a restaurant with the sole purpose of escalating something has only happened 1-2 times. Normally they lurked outside.
Meanwhile, this is Niantic in a nutshell:
