My screen broke and the upper part (status bar and a bit of usabe screen) is damaged, being always black, like a ugly notch. I was tought of using a resize app for the screen, but it need root access. Guess i'm stuck with the screen this way.
My rooted 2014 Moto X plays Prime just fine (for its age), and passes Safety Net checks. There are apps on the Play Store that will validate that your rooted device does/does not pass it. Verify through some of those before trying to play Prime on it.

Prime uses SaftyNet for security, which will prevent the app from running of it detects that the phone has been rooted.
No, it is not safe. Rooted phones don't pass Google's SafetyNet test and therefore you won't be able to log in.
