Missions rejected on perfectly valid images.

This is an issue that has been going on for years now with no resolution in sight.

People are trying to create high quality missions using public domain or own work images which are being rejected under various rejection messages but most often

  • "Use of an image or text that isn't yours or that you don't have rights to use or that consists of a logo"

I've been trying to get a set of missions through for over a year now, resubmitting, recreating, completely changed the text and name multiple times, so there is no way its being rejected on anything other than the images. I've included text stating the public domain declaration of the images, I've sited the source material, I've ignored the issue and written high quality descriptions, (to max character length), for each individual mission, but nothing, nada, nil.

How on Earth, (or any other celestial body), am I supposed to get these missions through. What makes it many times worse is that I KNOW these exact images have been used elsewhere on missions and approved.

Seriously Mission Monkeys, please get it together and give us some options here, some guidance even some open dialog would be greatly welcomed.

If anyone who can check is wondering, the latest ones that were rejected were "Orbit Keele Observatory [1/6]"

    Had a similar issue. I had 3 missions out of 24 that wouldn't go through no matter what I did. I took all of the approved missions offline and resubmitted everything at once and every one of them went through. The mission system is seriously broken.

    Let’s see the images.

    Also, sometimes the image isn’t the issue, even though you’re getting a rejection that states it is. I haven’t worked on adding in missions for months now because of how tedious it is, but I’m sure it’s just as bad and will continued to be ignored by the Niantic team.

    Yeah, I had a photograph that I took myself rejected multiple times as a copyrighted photo. Help chat refused to listen and said I couldn't use an image that didn't belong to me. I even sent them a screenshot of my photo gallery where you could see I took multiple versions of the photo from different angles. Finally I deleted the mission and resent same. Same image and everything. It was accepted.

    that's a generic answer usually the pb isn't the picture at all.

    got this one one mission the pb was between creation and review one portal had been removed.

    but instead not enough portal i got the same bs text ...

  • There is only a few kind of rejection letter, it is hard to conclude the real reason. Tips that can help:

    • -add more portals to the mission, than the minimum 6;
    • -title and/or description should contain the city / neigborhood name;
    • -the most simple description will do (like "visit [city name], hack the portals and collect the [mission name] badges");
    • -the image should not resemble a single letter;
    • -never re-send a rejected and edited mission for approval, make a new.

    Good luck!

    I just gave up because NIA doesn't care about this feature unless they make the missions.

    Same here. Images I took with my phone were deemed copyrighted images. Between that baloney and the random rejections. It's not worth the time spent. For shiggles, I took a copyrighted image and created a banner. It was accepted in less than a week, and is still online.

    Just proves that the entire process is completely cruddy. Similar to the Wayfarer system.
