picking up items after attacking causes game to freeze

After attacking an area, items are dropped from the machina portals. Clicking on an item after attacking causes the game to freeze. This is a continuing issue and happens almost every time.

I have a Galaxy note 20 ultra with Android 13.

I'm also affected by this, running on Android 12. Picking up any item (key, shield, whatever) with the attack overlay (the one with the weapon selection and the Fire button) open will lock the overlay in place. Even hitting the close button at the bottom does nothing, although left-swiping to close the app does still work.
