Lack of Niantic input to forums.
It's coming up on six months since the last post by Niantic in the News section of the forums.
Apart from bug report area there is basically zero input from Niantic to anything other than shutting down discussions.
Either do something or close the forums Niantic.

The newer games don’t have discussion forums, they only function as Bug Report depositories.
Then people are directed to the Campfire groups instead. I think they’re probably slowly giving up on the idea of forums? Or maybe the new games didn’t see a need for them.
It’s also been mentioned that @NianticThia was given a new role[citation needed] so we don’t have a community person now, so nobody is checking in on the forums.
That's no excuse though really.
How's it for encouraging new players when they find the forum, see the last news post was six months ago?
"Oh this must be a dead game, k thx bai"
We have seen other staff post.
They could at least make a statement, remove sections of the forums and hire another person...
Nor does the older game, Pokemon Go...
However:
While we could say "Just **** the forums", it still provides a central place for discussion that somewhere like Facebook has never been able to reproduce what G+ once had.
Thia is gone? Oh no! We'll never get that Q2 2022 roadmap now.
Yall keep buying swag packs, and paying for core subs, and all the while niantic has been scaling back the resources they're putting into the game.
Last post on the blog was pre-xmas.
....
We’re on a sinking ship agents. I fear machina is a last ditch effort. It’s so bizarre no one from the Ingress team cares to hype their own game. Maybe they’re ready to ditch this game too?!? Yeah, it takes time and effort and no one will ever be satisfied with the time spent here on the forums. But add a disclaimer after your posts and help get people excited about this game. Between a weak Q1, limited interaction with agents, nothing about the next anomaly. C’mon, please try harder….
Yup most everyone has quit. There's nothing exciting about the game and there's no players left. Anomalies aren't coming back, Prime was the worst decision they ever made. It's a serious of negative compounding decisions that have ran everyone away from the game. It really does feel like they are walking away from it. It's been a good run but it will never be what it used to be. Niantic doesn't comment on these forums because they have no answers. The ship is taking on water and it's almost gone.
seems they decided to interact less when new app versions no longer is posted by them I guess they didnt want to read all negative comments how broken the game is its clear they reply more or less in report bug section only ☹️
I will repeat my endgame scenario suggestion, as it seems more and more likely.
OPR and nominations are shut down entirely. Mission creator and the store too. I originally said that a virus could enter the portal network and would remove one portal at a time, but now they could use red portals. When a red portal decays or is destroyed, the portal disappears, until there are none left.
Yeah, I’d much rather have the forums than the Campfire, which seems to be what Pokémon GO chose for their “forum” space, but it’s difficult to track any meaningful conversations there.
Campfires awful. I stated when they were talking about it, it's a bit late now to be introducing a new chat platform when the communities already solved that 10 years ago.
Is the link to the forums in the app new? That's interesting....
I don't think ingress wants that. That would be regress unless out of business is happening.
Perhaps, however, Campfire should also be browser-based, which would solve the current lack of searchability and multilingual support to a certain extent.
Thia where art thou 👀
Well, just look at the account information and see who's been here recently. Or who has bothered to actually sign in so that they could reply, or like something, or even change the status of something in the bugs forum...seems rather bleak.
Thia (Not sure what her role currently is (other than posting memes)) hasn't visited the forums signed in since Jan 17th
Granted she has been more active on Telegram than she has been on the forums recently. (*cough Mission Day/NL-1331 tour somewhere in the near future*)
Brian Rose (Ingress Producer) hasn't visited the forums signed in since Feb 2nd
Ace aka John Hanke (CEO)
March 2022
NianticOfficial (account to
hide behindwhen posting unpopular stuff (err, account to post official type of stuff))Feb 6th.

Ex-Employee's (Ex-Community Awesome Dude (Ex-Official go-between for agents & Ingress (voice of the agents))) have visited more recently
Nearly a month since the current Community Specialist/Community Manager has checked the forums isn’t great.
I have read a couple times that she may have some sort of new role....? I don't really have time to be on 9 different social media platforms trying to keep up with 9 different accounts, so I could be wrong.
I also remember that she posted somewhere or maybe said something in an interview eluding to that she wasn't overly excited about the forums. I guess it's easier to post in places where people can't respond or maybe telegram is full of folks who aren't as critical of the game. In my opinion, you know the job you signed up for and you should have realized the state of the game when you signed up. Shying away from the forums because "you're learning things" or because agents are critical of a game they've dedicated nearly a decade to is just weak.
It often feels like John, Brian and team is resting on their laurels. We can keep this ship afloat with the bare minimum because agents keep on playing, keep scanning portals and spend hours a day reviewing wayspots they may never even see in the game they play. We'll make some big promises at the anomaly in LA, get agents all jazzed on the game and then basically ghost them for the entire first quarter of 2023. They can keep busy with a worn out virtual FS and SS each month and try to keep those pesky machina portals under control. We'll release some AI generated medals that make no sense to anyone to keep our paychecks coming until we figure out what to do with the remaining part of 2023....
Hey look, Thia does check on the forums.
(shrugs) after how many tags and likely other niantic employees telling her "you should probably respond to this"
I'm guessing someone tagged her on telegram. Seems to be the fastest way to get a response from her.
Its obvious niantic dont have time to have someone bother communicate here weekly with us ☹️ did they all go to campfire? they closed new app rlses to comment for a reason
