Portal nominations location from EXIF

in General
I like the idea of being able to upload an existing photo to the scanner when submitting a portal nomination but its still boring to set location manually (especially if you are really away from the portal).
How about doing this way:
- Once player makes a photo he probably has GPS enabled so that the picture EXIF will contain some GPS stuff already.
- Uploading an existing picture during nomination automatically sets location to the location specified in main picture EXIF (if any)
- Player still can adjust location manually.
This will help a lot because enabling a GPS is not a big deal and you can go into the area with poor Internet coverage and just make pictures. No need to spend time for adjusting positions later

I like idea, but there is one problem. Exif has a lot more information than just location. There is a plugin out there, that reads exif, it can show who submits portal by bounding info from photo with portals already added by player. I was informed that it is a way how people knew it was my submision to reject it. Fortunately they don't do it anymore but it is still unfair for more players because problem of data from exif exists.
you submit picture to Niantic server so that they can remove exif and use info they need.
Plus if you are making picture from normal camera, not ingress client, there is no way to have your agent name there
That's how Niantic originally did Portal submissions. Share to the app and the pin would default to the EXIF data that has the coordinates.
yep, but currently there is no option to share picture with Prime.
Now that remote submission is enabled in prime you do share an existing photo with prime so the EXIF data should be available @AkceptorUA
Depends if Niantic implements it on upload. I haven't tried Portal Nominations yet to see.
I see upload in Prime but there is no option to share picture to Prime. At least for now
