So much time has been spent on addressing lag, Ofer2 even talked about it, echoing the same thing, would rather work on new features than fixing the lag issues.
We're talking about virtually the last 10 years, they've been trying to solve it.
John Hanke blamed the lag on cellular infrastructure, which has been proven wrong. Same lag on 5G and strong WiFi.
Again, what's that got to do with Kinetic capsules. You listed frackers which are not KCs or QCs, and a 7 year old post that was their first attempt to reduce Aegis replication rates to 0.01% before they later removed it.
Your memory appears even shorter since my statement was that stopping VR replication had nothing to do with the release of Kinetic Capsules...
Additionally in 2021 KCs weren't even purchasable, so I don't know how it's a cash grab...
My biggest concerns would be the transition periods, both in terms of the new kcap programs and the transfer of items from qcaps to regular caps.
As for the new kcap programs, they should be introduced either before or around the same time that qcaps are converted to regular caps. Please do not let days/weeks/months/years go by where there are no qcaps and no new kcap programs.
And as for the transfer of items from qcaps to regular caps, many agents don't trust that this will go down smoothly. I share their concern. I've already moved most of the stuff I kept in qcaps into regular caps, but I have left some things in qcaps that I'm trying to replicate. But it does feel like a bit of a risk, because it would not surprise me one bit - with the amount of bugs this game has - if it doesn't go smoothly and items left inside qcaps go poof. I would ask Niantic to give us advance warning with a date when this gets closer to happening.
In theory, I'm fine with qcaps going away and replicating items with kcaps. I don't mind walking to get extra keys. But I'm worried Niantic will botch this transition.
All of those complaining about X8s... You know you can k i l l stuff with X7 right? And a P6 portal will drop some L8 gear.
Those complaining they won't get L8 cubes, the Kinetic program generates a ton of Hypercubes with low level cubes. Use it.
My main concern is this will increase silent spoofers to maintain keys and/or more backpack/mule accounts. A quick google shows you can buy keys from illegal sites Niantic can't seem to shut down.
I do not disagree that unlimited keys are a bad thing, though let's face it, if the opposition keep linking to something, the best option is to go there yourself and k i l l it. I do think to an extent, that expensive to get to portals; this will needlessly introduce large cost/fuel usage for key top-ups to remote spots and/or introduce more perma BAFs. (I can't afford to drop field as I don't have more keys).
It is VERY late in the game to make this change, most strategic portals, keys are already bred in 1000's and widely distributed.

I have plenty of kinetic caps and just don't use them as the programs are just inflexible and useless for my needs. If you could select the level of resonator that is to be used that would be an improvement.
Quantum caps are a great tool for breeding whatever you can with little fuss, in particular cubes and keys. They are great as they are set and forget and don't disappear after a handful of uses.
Sadly I can't help but feel this will only increase spoofing to remote and important portals to hack keys. Spoofers are still the bane of ingress, yes the removal of them has been improved but we still have accounts that have been reported multiple times ruining local play.
Please reconsider the removal of the Quantum cap, they are a great tool.
And again… last time we could vote with our money and quite core… at least. Now there is again a reason to quit ingress. Really stop annoying players but do something more against the lag and spoofing.
I would like to see a kind of capsule which can be recharged with kinetic energy, xm or both and then automatically charges the keys in it by x% per day until it is depleted. This would remove a tedious task to keep portals charged manually and would be more in the spirit of Ingress where coming outside and moving is promoted. (currently more than 80% of my game time goes to keeping everything charged and moving keys and powercubes around to accomplish this)
I would keep them, link the QC to the movement like the kinetic but the remove the possibility to dupe keys. Leave only the possibility to dupe common items
I hope we get VR turrets and force amps and some new programs. I dont really rely on quantums but i can see how some are.. but times are changing this game isnt the same as 2015 and kinetics imo is a good compromise if they add a key program to make 1 key double its alright means u can do a few kinetics and double your keys and u need to go out and move your feet instead of waiting for quantums to dupe them..
Also istil feel we should get a kinetic badge for completed that would be a motivation also to keep em running daily.

This wouldn't solve myltiaccount problem IMO,only in long term For example,bad actor has 10 accounts to gain upto 1000 bursters per week doing nothing. After qc will be off,that person still has upto 19000 bursters background. Much enough.
And lets imagine that bad actor has one (only one) account simple with anchor keys. It's upto 1900 keys,how much time it will take to deplete that storage...
So main goal IMO should be fight with multiaccounts not with qCaps.
Since the kinetic caps are to replace the quantums, please allow them to do what quantums did; multiply items into more of the same items. Not every recipe has to increase (or decrease) the level or rarity of items, just give us recipes to turn level 5 resos into more level 5 resos. Or level 7 bursters into more level 7 bursters. (or lvl 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) Or common heatsinks into more common heatsinks.
Best update since quite while - gear without doing anything is pointless. Imagine a drone that could be used to link or fire burster - is it that what you wished to see on top of quantums?
Regarding new programs:
- please no forceamps/turrets. garbage mods; its impossible to drain someones XM since hypercube program provides infinite cubes
- Rare hackmods would be nice; people need to hack again when mulefarms are closed
- Ito's may be a thing too due to increased output of higherlevel items
- rareshields may be too good, but a program for common shields seems fine to me. 5 CS out of... 40 burster or resonators or some forceamps/turrets
The part about qc being sort of commemorative trophies should be considered, perhaps with a badge reward or statistic?
Agree also with the idea that items can be altered at will of Niantic, a badge could serve the purpose of acknowledging the items and therefore the times a player was part of the game, when these transitions take place. Suggesting a free version for those who have quantums in inventory at time of change. Maybe a paid version for those who badge-hound and/or join Ingress after this transition?
I'm not going to discuss the change, since it's a corporate decision. I'll just deal with it as is.
I use my QC to generate basic stuff, while KC can't. In the past week I missed KC materials so much, KC were not even in use, while I was waiting for QC to produce materials for me to run my KC.
Based on this, I need some KC receipies to generate basic materials out of not having materials.
E.g.
15 Shields from nothing for 8km
5 Rare Shields from 10 shields for 8km
1 Very Rare Shield from 3 shields for 8km
Same for generating L1 to L6 XMP and/or Resonators (Level being player's choice if possible) from thin air, then additional receipies to upgrade them up to L8 if needed.
Just tossing ideas here, but I need receipies that won't bleed my storage too much. I'm a rather casual player.

I saw one comment mention a "disassemble" program where we can break down being added in addition to the already existing ability to build VR gear. Please please we would love this.
-AP reward per kinetic (saw a post suggesting ap per km, i would suggest yes, an ap gain is a great concept to encourage movement further, but i think an AP reward for completing the kinetic would be simpler for the programming, encourage the movement AND the use of the kinetics)
-"portal keys into portal keys" portal key conversion: also love this idea. Suggest that it require the temporary "lockout" of the key you wish to replicate, and that it be already in your inventory. The key to duplicate would "go into the kinetic" along with... maybe 10 other keys, in order to produce a single copy of the original key? Key duplicating is an important tool for those of us who hunt durables and physically go to them. If you spend hours getting to a portal, you can't often spend a day there to farm the portal more than a single cycle. A program through the kinetics would preserve the duplication mechanic, and make it to where it has a physical demand, you can't replicate those keys for free.
-tiered programs (suggested by another user) great idea for implementing these mechanics. Hypercubes/resos couls be t1, Disassembly of VR and assembly of VR would make great T2/t3 mechanics for instance, and portal key reproduction a t4 program.
There will always be naysayers of change, i am mostly neutral to this change other than the ability for replication of durable keys (hard to acquire keys, as a hiker, when time allows this feels like a very real loss), i just hope that there is a mechanic for this that is added at the same time the capsules are swapped.
But the current world is not the world of 5-7 years ago. A pandemic happened, and people got used to playing alone. There are fewer agents - people used to playing in an active area have to adjust to having fewer faction-mates. The agents are older. New agents are rare. (Niantic doesn't recruit = unchanged.)
Using Quantums to reproduce hard-to-get keys is an important strategic part of the game, and has been since they were MUFCs. It would be a great shame to lose that.
Tying reproduction to movement would be great - I'd probably be able to breed my favourite keys more quickly than I can now 😁.
Not really going to dig into the pro/cons of this, it's just going to change another dynamic in the game. As ever it will be for the players to find what works for them.
If Niantic are truly looking to this thread for kinetic program suggestions, please add the ability to craft ultra strikes.
I have 33 quantum caps, 20 of which are used for key generation. I notice Niantic don't say the new caps will generate keys,only that they are considering it. I live in a rural area and qcaps make a big difference. If they are being retired I can see no reason to stay signed up to core. The extra capacity for key gen was the only incentive to join it.
US program is a terrible idea. Indeed, hard to hack big numbers. However, we got Ito- mods, allowing to hack them way more often. In my opinion its perfectly balanced at the moment. With a few Ito- farm visits its feasible to strike a lot of portals, but precisely not enough to strike all. US inflation just results in loss of value of Shields.

First we increase the cooldown times, then we remove the quantum capsules...
Sounds to me the in-game store isn't selling as much as they hoped and are trying to "fix" that..
Part of it is to get people moving again, after COVID stuff.
Niantic also tried to entice Pokémon GO players to do the same, as both games are meant to be about exploring and getting exercise.
I really enjoy the KCaps (however, give me a permanent badge for ones completed) so am not bothered about this change really.

Why destroy something in the game that works well and is liked by agents ?
Killing the quantum capsule will just promote more people SPOOFING and using multiple accounts to get items they need.

Mods which slow down portal decay rate would also be cool as craft items in a kinetic capsule
