You're supposed to live in a city with other players or being able to walk long distances every day if you play alone on the countryside. Urbanisation also in Ingress 👎 countryside players now have to to walk many more kilometers than city players to get high level gear and it will be harder for people having problems to walk ling distances 🤷 if I understood correctly? Honestly I don't see how how will this bring more countryside players to the game and activity outside the cities.
It is no coincidence that such a major event will not have a physical site and the removal of Quantum Capsules are occurring in relatively close time periods.
We can speculate based on other games that use similar bounty/quest/task systems for their events.
From this, we can expect that rewards from completion of certain tasks could include, XMPs, Resonators, Mods, Media and potentially boosts
And badges.
From one line of text, and a timeframe.
I just don't understand why @NianticThia or @NianticBlue have not put out a teaser for this upcoming system.
Further speculation, Vanguards, XMAs and Ingress staff I expect are working through the remaining bugs, prior to a release some time around mid to late February 2023
Niantic dont want passive rewards, + it was a costly process according to brian go through all quantums when they duped so in a way good they got rid of it, now all backpack accounts cant sit doing nothing and multiply gear.
You want to plan a BAF? If too many people know you have a spot you think is safe against the world. No QC means no ops. You want a no ops world by the sound of it.
You may be too poor of an imagination to consider it, but we can link and create a control field if it is within 6881 km.
You should also know that you cooperated with XF at the end of the anomaly in Ishinomaki City 8 years ago, when Japan and the US were linked via Hawaii.
At this time, of course, quantum capsules do not exist.
And we are told that the Hawaii portal that linked this link was created the day before and the AG hacked the key and brought it to Japan.
That's quite an assumption from one line of text. I'm more of thinking machina and the QCs were supposed to happen together. Maybe that's the small lore story? Especially with quantum in their name.
The keys you obtain from machina farms is insane and makes it easy to put up fields without really having to field.
Back when Niantic was a Google startup, they hired actors to do regular Ingress reports.
I think it was Ione Butler.
This media outlet, which lasted until around May 2016, reported on many major operations around the world, and many Ingress agents were eager to get coverage.
On one occasion, during a mission day held the day after the Aegis Nova Tokyo anomaly, large-scale operations from 2012 to 2016 were presented on a spherical display that resembled Earth.
These reports intrigued Ingress agents.
The Ingress reports have long since disappeared, and perhaps that is why many of today's players seem to have limited imaginations of their own.
I would like to see the return of the Ingress Reports so that Ingress Agents can once again let their imaginations run wild.
No budget to hire actors, not exactly cheap so i dont see that happening really anytime soon. But yes it was a nice feature i think we all miss that but ingress isnt exactly the money making machine pokemon go is sadly.
2023 should be the year niantic in Q2 kicks back to many anomalies and fun events onsite so people all around the world can participate in those but so far Q1 is a big letdown all empty on that, but i hope in future wont just be a single anomaly or two for next quarter 🤔
Also niantic need to advertise ingress some i dont remember last time i saw any ads

Coming in March with the MPFZK or whatever it’s called event.

"HexQuest"
And no physical sites. For the March Anomaly

(Large scale) Ops were a thing long before MUFGs and Quantum Capsules came along.

Not around for that period of time. Must have been murder to execute.

I think that reporters do not have to be actors.
Well, the actors look better and have more appealing voices, but we are not that demanding.
So I am OK with Brian or Thia, and I am fine with an Ingress player serving as well.
But as you can imagine, they would be busy, so I couldn't ask Hanke or Kawashima to do it. (I'm sure they'd be willing to do guest interviews, etc.)
First, what great things are our people doing? should be conveyed to Ingress players as little as possible.
I think Ethan should do them. I mean why not.
