The state of viruses is so boring and encourages sloth

Not sure what Niantic expected when they decided to break their moral code and put viruses in the store every anomaly weekend. I've had maybe two portals of mine destroyed by bursters in the last 6 months but have an average of 5 viruses a day used on my portals. Maybe Niantic should give me a cut of the money they get for viruses.

It's eye wateringly boring gameplay, noone farms gear anymore its just flipcards on the same portals from the drivegressers. Just had over 20 used on portals today that changed absoluely zero in the cell state other than giving Niantic money for people wasting my, and their time.

Since viruses are more common than L1 resos now, how about giving a player a cooldown on viruses so they actually have to rub 2 braincells together to assess risk of using one? No? Okay, guess lazy drivegress is the endgame Niantic wants. Gotta milk the whales I guess.

    How much are viruses when they are for sale... maybe a dollar each? I have so many flipcards from hacking that I've never paid attention. "Costly" is a relative term. There are some people who would be uncomfortable spending a dollar or two on the game and others who wouldn't bat an eye at dropping a hundred bucks.

    @mortuus, not everyone cares about AP. The only reason I have any clue about how much I have is that I noticed a few weeks ago that I was about to hit 300 million and thought about aiming for an even number, but then I got so caught up in smashing that I blew right past it.

    Ingress has become a very boring driving game. No strategy and no team aspect. Just get in your car and drive for hours playing a game on a cell phone. And many drive over eight hours a day playing. And really to what end? Is there even a goal to the game anymore? Capture mind units for what reason?

    Yeah game has no real plot and game is endless but some has that amount of time to just drive around many hours nonstop... not what i call fun really.. shame niantic dont gives us more fun events starting next year we must wait until march for that quest thingy

    @VenomousToad I capture/destroy because it's fun. I don't need a higher purpose.

    My inventory right now contains over 240 viruses and I've never paid for one. Just because someone uses a virus does not mean you can assume they bought it from the shop. (But partly why I have that many is because I don't use them on a day-to-day basis - only occasionally for protecting a high-level portal, for clearing same-faction blocking links, and for strategic purposes during anomaly conditions.)

    So we're going to look over the kcap program that allow you to convert flip cards to the other?

    I know I still have a lot from the duplication days and it seems like a red herring to blame it on the store.

    Oh it definitely made the impact from the virus bundle to be double.

    As for starworts commentary, 240 would last him under 2 months and he wouldn't get many back here in that time. Flipcards are 1/750 hacks roughly to get either, so compared to a fracker the virus pack for $3 is an additional... 1490 hacks more.

    I've been hacking a ton of flip cards recently. Gave a capsule away a few weeks ago. Still have a few capsules full of 'em. I used one to flip a L5 portal the other day because I have too many. I have 580 million AP. Losing a bit of AP for flipping a portal vs destroying/capturing it really doesn't hurt all that much. Most of my xmps these days go to that red junk that keeps growing back faster than weeds in my yard.

    It says more about your local player base than you. You have them trained. 580m AP is STRONG deterrence.

    More power to you. My box they have to be used a lot more aggressively because people charge aggressively.

  • I have at least 100 ada and 100 Jarvis. . who cares if people can buy them. . Niantic is in this to make money . Not cater to your saltiness. ..

    You just used 7 in a row on stuff that gets thrown every day, so by your numbers you'll last 2 weeks
