Starting kinetic capsule program and item limit

When I have more than 3000 items (outside key lockers) I can't start kinetic capsule programs:
("Too many items in inventory. The inventory may contain 2500 items max.")
If I have 3000 items or less I can start a KC although the message says 2500 is the limit. Does anybody else have this?

I have startied a kcap when I was running out of space. Maybe I've never tried one when I was actually over. I've never gotten that message.
Kcaps are nice when you're filling up, because the gear they take as input stop adding to your total inventory.
You could drop a capsule of 500, then load kcaps and use other gear, then pick your capsule back up. But being over by 500 is rough!
Let me guess - you have 2000 L1 power cubes in your inventory.

I have same- limit at 3000 when core maybe? Between 2500 and 3000 no problem- more than 3000- not able to start program, but says 2500.
