Reduce influence of home portals on gameplay
I think Niantic should change the hacking technics of a single portal to reduce number of daily hacking by a player. For example, limit total daily hacks of the portal by one player to 34 times (it's equal to 4 VR multihack mounted in portal) regardless of portal mods. It will help reduce the advantage of players with home portals. It's very important in small towns with less than 20-30 active players especially. What do you think?

I think that someone's home portal is another's insignificant portal. In my opinion there are players that cannot walk much and help their mates by giving them gear, that is the spirit of game - helping your community. When I couldn't go and make BAFs, I tried to help by hacking xmp on nearby portals. Limiting number of hacks won't help, even make more difficult to obtain gear for anomalies, lot of people won't have more time to hack.
I live in place where my team has only one person with home portal, ENL has 4 house, and 3 work portals. We just make our own farms and see each other often, so other team doesn't have adventage, city is blue:)
Patka07, you just have confirmed my idea - someone has no time to walk and get some xmp, but someone has home portal and may not walk at all. How can I resist a player which has full bag of 7-8 XMPs and shields day by day? I understand this situation is usual to both fractions, but Niantic should prevent such "happy" advantages.
Patka07, making farms is a excellent idea, but it's a short-time solution)
@vzdrncek in that case my town should be green, but it isn't...
You should think of organising farms, or even flash farms (frackers). That is spirit of game - meeting each other, that is how we manage without home portals. And limiting hacks per day will slow us down. When we need keys for portal for BAF, it wil make more difficult to obtain them, when we made linkstar, it would destroy our plans to make 1200 links, we would not be able to hack so many keys with more limit of hacks.
Maybe your teammates should talk internally and help each other, you focus on hacks, but it will affect not only small cities, but players who make research on output, plans for BAFs, need keys, stuff for anomalies, etc.
Imagine you in a war, would you stop receiving a comb of bullets, because the enemy has no one to deliver to his comrades? If the mods that may have access to hacks and mods to reduce waiting time, I do not think it's a problem. Ps: google translate
iluminadorRM, it's not a war, it's a game. Game developer should provide protection against in-game methods of loot forcing. 4 hr portal cooldown time is one of them, isn't it?
I know, it was just an example, I know the game is for fun. It could be that more forward with reports of more players can be placed limit plus 34 is a lot, it would have to be at least 102 hack / day.
Why not just play a single player game where you can completely negate the influence of other players?
tomogram, it is not constructive proposal. Any game without fairplay becomes to trash. I know players which have accounts for each family member even they do not play at all, but always upgrade home portal to 8. Is it normal situation?
Seems like someone doesn't have a home portal and is simply mad. 🤷♂️ I very much doubt if you would suggest the same if you had one close to your place.
Anyway... Just because your mad doesn't mean it needs to affect everyone. Everyone is mad at something, but for it change it needs to be something that is fairly affecting everyone.
p.s: I do't have HM, and i still don't support this.
It's mad to play against persons who has hundreds of 7-8 XMPs and leave all portals with R/VR/Aegis shields after him. It's wonderful!
I don't have any portal clusters near me, therefore Niantic needs to do something to prevent people for taking advantage of portal clusters to keep the game "fair", such as if you hack one portal, you can't hack another within 500 meters. </sarcasm>
****??? What clusters? I speak about home portal where player can restore his inventory only for one day! It runs counter to ideas of Ingress - walking, dicovering, journeys ans so on. It's like using "IDKFA" or "impulse101" codes from old popular games.

Ok. Now tell me what is he/she gonna do with all those resos and ammo? Go around capture and destroy portals...? huh? Problem? Your point? 🤷♂️
That is the problem (not "green" sky). 90% of green portal has 3-4 various shields or amps/turrets. The reason is - this city has 5-6 ENL players and only 1 RES player with home portals. I see this picture day by day and month by month.
Clearly, you missed the point. I can use the exact same "fairness argument" about the distribution of portals and portal clusters as you do about "home portals". But the game was never meant to be fair. Besides, you can't play off of just one portal. You need multiple portals in order to properly play the game, so someone having a "home portal" isn't really a big deal. Besides, you can restock far more quickly at a sizable cluster of portals than you would at a single "home portal" so those who live near a cluster of portals has a far greater advantage than those who have a "home portal".
The paradise to make AP and they complain? I would certainly be L16 if I lived there 😂
You would loose all your game stuff right behind the first corner)))
TheFarix, it's clear for me. But I'm sure that my initial proposal will give more balance to the game and won't reduce game capabilities. That is all I wanted to say. Thanks to all
I have a home portal.
I hack it less than the portals in range of pubs.
I've never burnt it out... Yet I burn the pub portals out almost daily.
When looking for new flats / houses, I've actually taken into consideration having an active poi in range, currently I do have one, previous to this I didn't, previous to that I had two and previous to that I had one.
Guess what, all bar 1 poi I submitted.
Just track enemy home and destroy it everyday.
That is by far the most logical way to play. Sorry @vzdrncek but your complaints really don't have much merit. VRHS and VRMH don't pop up all that often in gameplay so you knock it out enough, they will have only common mods with L5 portal. Not much to get off of those.
You’re playing an augmented reality game where there are real world advantages and disadvantages. Home portals are part of the game just like portals on top of mountains are part of the game.
If you want a fair game, you want a single player game. Ingress will never be fair. Ingress is a global game where a lot of the complexity lies in accessing portals in difficult locations.
I hear final fantasy 7 is a wonderful game.
How about just stop being jealous of people who are a bit more lucky to have a portal worthy object near their home?
Haha yes I have a couch portal. It's a P7 with farm mods most of the time. But honestly, I hack it only if my inventory is TOTALLY drained, otherwise it's much faster to go for a real farm and get more L8 stuff.
The real advantage of a couch portal is an easy sojourner keeping. But I got mine approved on day 353 so whatever.. 🤷 at least that last week was a pleasure lol.
In principle, the OP is right about decreasing the influence of having a couch portal, but I think the solution should not be to reduce output but instead give other options to get gear, and here I explicitly mention hard to get gear like Aegis shields which play such a big role in anomalies. That could be rewards for walking (Adventure sync please) or fulfilling daily tasks. It could also just be a daily delivery of items.
Your sarcasm is really misplaced, man. Difficult location is just one of the key options of the game, but unlimited hacking of the home portal and getting various stuff from it is just a result of unthoghtful game mechanics...
It probably balances out globally.
As myself, and others have mentioned, having a hp isn't all glorious and fun.
I barely use mine.
Having one also makes you a target for regular takedowns.
If you want a hp, find somewhere to live in range of a poi, or find a poi Earby worth submitting.
