Feature Request: Visual indicator of having a reso on a portal
If I'm passing through an area that's owned by my faction I often want to drop an R8 on portals if I can. The challenge is that it's impossible to tell whether you have resos on portals without tapping on each one and looking at the list of names, and that's a slow and tedious process. It would be nice to have some sort of visual indicator in the scanner that would let me know if I had resos on each of the portals in view. Having this in both intel and the scanner would be ideal, though I'd settle for just having it in the scanner.
In short, I want to look at a sea of portals and know which ones I should bump without having to check them one at a time.
Bonus feature request, an oldie but a goodie: I'd like to be able to get a list of all of the portals that I currently have a resonator on. The intel map would probably be ideal for this.

There’s IITC plug-ins for that. :)
It’s why we have intel, imho.
Reso/Mod details aren't loaded until you click the portal.
So unlikely to happen, unless they change what is requested.
Not a bad idea for a layer
This would definitely help in portal dense farms. It would be good if any visual indicator corresponded with resonator level, like a purple indicator if you have a L8 resonator on the portal. It doesn't d0 me much good if the indicator looks exactly the same while my highest resonator on the portal is L7 or below.
(Wow, "d0 me" got censored, this forum really has its mind in the gutter 😂)
@kiloecholima Your point about levels is valid. My thinking was that I pretty much always drop an R8 when I'm capturing or bumping something, so knowing whether or not I had a reso on the portal would be nearly as good as knowing what my highest reso level was.
That's why there is an IITC plugin that loads that data and tells you what portals you haven't put resonators on. :)
Same here, but sometimes the carousel gets jumpy and it doesn't deploy the level of resonator that you want (although sounds like hopefully that may have been fixed in the new update?🤞)
@Jo0Lz That's exactly the sort of plugin that puts additional load on Niantic's servers. Also, using the intel map for something like this is only sort of helpful if you know where you will be going although it doesn't really help you find specific portals in tight clusters. It's useless when you find yourself in an area unexpectedly and want to bump the things that need your R8s.
well if the game needs to be changed to incorporate this feature, that is exactly what will happen, put more load on the servers by loading all data for all portals in sight to determine what portals haven’t been bumped by you.
so either way, it seems like it will be too stressful for the servers in their current state
To implement this as a layer like the others (using a lookup table) would require a massive amount of work to update the client storage blob in real time.
To query the servers from Intel at scale would damage playability as you've mentioned.
However, to do this in the scanner would cause the same load as:
That's exactly the sort of plugin that puts additional load on Niantic's servers
Because it'd be doing the same action. The resonator owners don't get loaded until you open the portal in the scanner, in the same way that opening it on Intel is the only time you get the resonator owners. So if it's too much for Intel, it's just as much for the scanner.
