Hello community, i would like to know if in your local zone there is an unfair judgment of "similar" portals from a city near to another...

note: i know that opr is for all, and i live in Italia but i find croatian's portal to examine, by the way a lot of opr portal are near my city, so ..community can judge all but a major of votes are arround it, for accept a valid playground i needed to resubmit 3/ 4 times and hope it tooks to people that are impartial and then finally accepted.

next my city there are a lot of religious icon and for me are like 95% valid portals

in mine that is opposite and i'm the only agent that live there , the same pics ( similar because they are ancient place builded long time ago) same icons are rejected...

ok , maybe 1 or 2 like them are not valid and i accept it without say nothing.. but for me opr needs to remove the possibility of judge the place near our city where we live,

if i live in florence ( Italy) i would like to judge portal of Palermo or Catania ( Italy too but so far away) for be honest, instead think " this is near my friends house, i accept.

i hope you are agree with this proposal

  • Many times people make up stuff about a place to just get approved. For ex: This "food place" has very good and tasty food and it's very famous. This all might be true, still doesn't mean much. It's personal preference and sometimes it's just McDonald and KFC, lol.

We had a Restaurant that was a Mural on the outside wall of a "True Ethnic Restaurant " . It was a Taco Bell.

People are always complaining about OPR present day, meanwhile most don't remember the utter gutter of submissions when OPR started. The amount of selfies and mocking of candidates/people was just ridiculous. We are at a point where they have given us a set of rules to follow so we are at a time where we see mostly high quality candidates.

To comment on OPs question, I'd say what works with OPR, works because we have limited control of what hat we have to review. This means that less populated areas can get "enough" reviewers. I think it show in your question, that you are an important part of the portal network integrety , right where you are.

In the past OPR used to be more location based. So you actually reviewed portals near your area. NIA changed this because it led to players ''blocking'' valid submissions from areas controlled by the majority of one faction, or portals that MIGHT become highly strategic. Some players still do it (less than before) but at the end, if your submission possess the criteria for a portal, it'll be approved.

  • @Mrajani How would they "block" a submission? I had the feeling that there must be a way for them to slow down the reviewing process either for certain submissions and reports (there is no way a submission/report from the very same area takes always way longer than another one without a reason...), but I couldn't figure it out. I imagined that they skip those that they want to slow down, I don't know if it can influence the system somehow... But I am not as creative as they are......

Okay so one core thing you should know before you start reviewing hopefully in the near future is that no one will completely agree with how you think about portals. When your submitting a candidate that you think is great you have to understand the main reasons of why it would be rejected too. Here's a few things to think about. Can I find my own candidate with google maps? Does the candidate address why it's a Point of Interest? Does the picture show the best view of the candidate? All these small things we take for granted as submitters early on have an influence on the decision of a candidate.

Even if your area is literally approving photos in Car windows or can't verify on the map portals go live, strive to make your candidate as strong as possible. Your own team will reject portals even if they are close buddies to you, so make your submission as strong as possible. In the end everyone views on what should or should not be a portal is different, the only thing you can personally do is improve your own submissions or provide/get feedback regarding OPR from other agents.

This is correct when the city has a lot of OPR members and active players. Otherwise collusion may have place. We have experimented few times - the same portal-candidate has been submitted from the second attempt. It depends on OPR persons who entered the system "to work".
