Suggestion: Drone payload

Hi guys. Thank you for this amazing game.

If I may, I'd like to make a suggestions: Allow drone to carry a payload (perhaps only one item) from player to portal.

Example: Carry a resonator to deploy in a portal or take a XMP burst to blast last resonator on enemy portal.

I think a feature like this, in association to regular drone cooldown would take the battles and events to a completely new level of coordination and cooperation, adding air strikes component to them.

Not that exciting compared to that fierce battle over a portal our group played against a worthy RES opponent in the past. Go out and get that adrenaline rush.

I suggested something similar a long time ago when drones were introduced, to have a payload, which could in effect enable another dynamic to Anomaly events.

Problem is that the drones are just made for enabling remote Hacking, and further expansion of them hasn't been revisited.

Same with enabling drones to travel along links.

imagine something similar to this, during an Anomaly, would add a whole heap of action on the ground trying to get a payload to a target portal.

I believe it would be hugely exciting

Not that exciting if you add some type of Rugby/Football type of mini-game in the middle of a fierce battle over a cluster of portals and then your group ends up putting a field over your primary opponent on his turf. It wasn't even an Anomaly at all, and it was just spontaneous. That is what I call beyond hugely exciting because it is more than the keys. I call it the Adrenaline Rush.

We already kind of do have portal football, aka shard game

The type of Football/Rugby game does not directly involve portals. It's fast-paced and does not require any cooldown time involving drones. You can ask that worthy RES opponent that our group has battled a lot of times. Made all those attack trips to his turf worth it because it made us faster, stronger, and tougher. I doubt if we can come across another worthy opponent like him. You have to give him that credit for setting up that bar...

I've done quite a few shard games during Anomalies, I quite like them, but others I've talked to, were getting bored of it.

Drones with in a similar shard game would definitely spice it up

The point that I mentioned above is the excitement of being there in that moment and the spontaneity that comes with it. It was fun battling another agent initially over the portals then all of a sudden we pivoted in surprising our opponent using a move that he didn't expect, then we pivoted again, and used another surprising move by giving him a key lime pie field :-) . Yes, anomalies can create excitement, but improvisation, quick thinking, and spontaneity made the game at that time really exciting and fun. Anyway, just returned him a favor because he made a surprised attack on us when we were doing the Mustangs missions :)

I say, drones are made for exploring! I leave it on vacation, or visiting family, and it can get to places I missed when I was there. I have learned a lot about where I live and work, by droning places I can't (or haven't) get to in person. I've even driven an hour away to drop off my drone, to explore the area. (I admit I also look for a bewery near the destination.)

I do hack with my drone, but they're mostly greys, so I burn most of what I hack. Hacking is definitely not the main drone feature for me. (I wouldn't use it for a single burster either, if it were possible.)
