What's New
- Niantic Labs Innovations is a new Settings menu category to house our advanced features and settings. The idea is to field test new features and suggestions, especially those from the Agent community. Some of the more popular experiments may be added to the core Scanner; some may be retired if they don’t see much usage. Our first advanced setting is Native Refresh Rate, which increases the frame rate for a smoother visual experience.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Kinetic Capsule notifications and alerts were sent before Kinetic Capsule Program output could be claimed.
- Adventure Sync can be re-enabled.

nice they fixed broken AS for everyone
Been saying it for years, we are the beta testers.... At least we can save the "hassle" of using test flight, lol
PS I'm actually hopeful they'll try out some features people are asking about....
The idea is to field test new features and suggestions, especially those from the Agent community.
Agents from the community clearly and loudly said WE DO NOT WANT STORE IN OUR ITEM INVENTORY.
The fact that Niantic STILL have not removed that means they are NOT listening and not interested in players' feedback.
Yay to having 60+FPS
I've seen it a few times when Ingress has glitched. And for the 5 seconds of 60FPS was amazing
Downgrading my Google Play review due to the lack of action on store removal from inventory list. Encourage others who feel the same way to do the same.
I'm kinda newbie in this and haven't option to check fps,so is this new feature useful for 60Hz screen?
Ingress currently runs at 30 FPS, regardless of the device you are using.
This was mainly due to the fact that Ingress was incredibly demanding on mobile devices and their batteries.
But in recent years, mobiles are increasingly battery efficient under high graphical load.
Apparently it will be an option in the settings menu to enable higher refresh rates.
Presumably many older devices will prefer to play with their old devices at a lower FPS.

Useful? Debatable. But it's nice to play at high refresh rate because it's so much more smooth. The glyph screen was already higher fps if I recall correctly.
Native refresh rate is hands down the best change that happened to Prime since its release.
well i wouldnt go that far but its good they offer this atleast now.
Anyone who hasn't enabled native refresh rate in 2.97.2 just give it a try! The game runs smooth as butter! So responsive! This has been an incredible addition to the game. I hope they make this permanent!
More slow now on glyph with 60FPS on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra with Exynos. I have Android 12 and latest big update on over 400mb.
Hope @NianticBrian resolve it to next update.
It works perfectly fine for me on my S22. What do you mean it's "slow"? The feedback on touch/draw, when the Sequence appears, etc?
Aninatons and draw works slower. I use adaptive refresh rate on my S21 Ultra.
any battery save mode on?
There's a bug however, that native refresh rate doesn't work after app restart. You then have to go into settings and uncheck and check in again. Which is a bummer and makes it nearly unusable.
It’ll be resolved swiftly I suspect, because they had the same issue with the sound setting.
both issues don’t exist on iOS though, luckily ;)
Hope @NianticBrian can relese very fast update resolve Native Refresh Rate bug disable after we restart app.
Way cant Niantic do somthing ok only relese bugs every time they relese somthing new to Ingress or relese new update of Ingress Prime.
i have to restart for the higher refresh rate too. .seems to affect only android according to brian.
I have no issue with the frame rate when glyphing
It looks smooth, but hard locks when recharging (frequently). I've also started having an issue where my GPS will just stop moving with me when the higher framerate is enabled. When I forget to go into settings and turn on the higher framerate again (after I restart the app from being frozen), I don't see the GPS stop issue.
Overall, the lag is still present and sometimes feels more frequent.
i had this too, but when traveling at higher speeds, the map would slowly disappear and no portals in sight.
I had the game crash like this ar the same chick FIL a 4 days in a row. I thought the portal was cursed
I didn't enable the higher refresh rate earlier today. Had no issues with any lockups when recharging. Yet the small amount I did on Sunday I locked up multiple times with the higher refresh rate.
