Recurse or not to Recurse
Since @NianticThia managed to Recurse green again.
I just happened to level up to L16 again during First Saturday.
Although I want to Recurse, there isn't enough incentive to do so.
So am in a bit of a bind, with no clear direction whether to Recurse again, or just stay at L16

Need mway more active players in my region to make it a truly viable option, which I'll do right now if it was the case.
I decided to recurse each time I moved to a new city, in order to have incentive to explore. But I also track my stats in a spreadsheet since each recursion, so I can track "new" badges too.
Gaining AP makes me go out and play as chasing levels.
Thia recused and didn't post a Twitter poll before doing it? She must have learned from someone.
Chasing levels again isn't so much of thing for me.
Takes on average 1.75 years to get back to L16 from L1.
I'd recurse if I could mute notifications from portals I don't care about. XM from hypercubes not going down would be more encouraging but probably over the top.
If you recurse, you will receive field kits for each new level up, which include level 8 and very rare items.

After the first recursion you can get wings on your onyx badges if reach the twice the onyx requirements.
The disadvantage of recursion is limited capacity for XM, and limited power in the short period when until you reach level 8.
Smart ones don't recurse because they can pursue other real-life worthwhile adventures.
The decision to recurse depends on whether you enjoy grXinding AP. (The X is because the forum software stars out that word.) I recursed once, on the exact minute of my fifth anniversary of the first portal I ever hacked. My goal was to get back to L16 in half the time of my first go-round... in 2013-2014 I got to L16 in roughly 9.5 months, which might have been a record at the time. I succeeded but it was pretty dreadful for me since I just had to keep focusing on AP and not on strategic/tactical concerns. I did it without Apex boosts, and with minimal special event double AP.
I'll do it again on the exact minute of my tenth anniversary of Ingress is still around, with the goal of a quarter of the time of my first L1-16 trip. If I do, look for me in central London on December 2, 2023 so I can start at the same portal as my first hack.
recurse for the lvl up field kits. and i thihk u should add a very rare battle beacon as reward for being lvl 16. its not too much asked and people mostly dont get often recurse on lvl 16 again. (only a few exceptions😛). as free to play player i have never tasted the use of a very rare battle beacon.
Recurse, have fun, play ingress.
PS: Dont be a chicken and get out of the Level 16 confort zone. 😁
That's why I recursed on New Year. Those bonus events + Apex = Got L8 at the same day.
@Hosette I do not care about the AP or the level up kits at the moment.
It would be just for the fun of grin ding back up to L16 again
I do need more, and active opposition.
The next double AP event is the Ingress Birthday
@Grogyan That is exactly the deciding factor. Griiiiiiiinding AP is fun for some people and dreadful for others. If you enjoy it then do it. I could make a list of 32,719 things I'd rather do.
Yeah, I'm in the same boat. So little activity that I'll have to resort to flip fielding or something to level back up.
Might do it with the B-day. But I'm recursing to blue at 300M AP 'all time', just because blue isn't playing just to stagnate the game. :/
