The giant pile of Apex boosts, this time in song
Dear @NianticThia: I haven't given you a good rant or laugh about the giant pile of Apex boosts in my inventory. Unfortunately I don't have the time or energy to hire a marching band and a chorus to perform this in person so you'll have to watch the video and sing it yourself.

Seventy Six Apex, by Hosette
(With apologies to Meredith Wilson)
Seventy six Apex in my invent'ry
Seventy six boosts taking up my space
And I keep getting more
Because I subscribed to C.O.R.E
Seventy six? It's such a stupid waste!
Seventy six portal mods that I can't carry
Seventy six bursters I can't hold
And all this useless junk
Costs me five dollars every month
This is really, really getting old
I would like to replace them with some Hypercubes
Powering, powering my play for a day
Please just give me something that I want to use
Or recycle... maybe that's the way?
I would dearly love to trade them in for something good
Anything, anything that affects the board
AP's not my jam
And though you don't give a d***
Having all of these Apex is absurd!

I just put one on every now and again if I am expecting to be playing for 30 mins. The extra ap is kinda pointless, but then it doesn’t feel completely wasteful.
The extra inventory space makes it well worth burning down to less than 10 imo.
Edited - I apologize my paste went weird from something else.
I really do understand not being able to recycle the Premium mods. Granted I do use the Apex but I can understand why others do not, I do hope that in the future they add the ability to recycle the Premium mods
make so u can gift Apex 🤪
Lol so dodgy players can level up their handbags faster 😬 (i detect the /s btw 🙂)
@CrepitusOz My weird quirk is that I'm as much of a purist as I can reasonably be about not getting unearned AP. I don't ever want to use an Apex boost and I typically slow way down when Niantic has double AP events. I am admittedly in a small minority on this but I own it. Basically I think it's silly that we can no longer recycle paid-for items and I'd like to see that fixed so every few months I drop in with a hopefully-humorous complaint about the pile of Apex boosts that I can't get rid of without earning AP for doing it.
The irony of today's rant is that I'm an engineer at a certain large company that invented Prime Day. I noticed this evening, after busting my rear all day that Niantic had a Prime Day sale of their own... on Apex boosts. That's what pushed me over the edge to write the song.
I have an idea for you : stack 10 apex before you sleep, for 5 hours earn 0 ap. 🥳
You earn AP for triggering them...
Japanese haiku translated into English:
I won't buy a double experience.
Boredom, not a soul around.
Summer ends soon.
@CrepitusOz 1K AP for each Apex used.
And really, there's no reason not to let people recycle fungible purchased items. That used to be allowed, and it's allowed in other Niantic games. You just get an extra "Are you sure?" prompt.
It's such a non-issue and this has to be the third or fourth topic about this coming from you. The "purist" mindset went out the window when AP was added to so many different actions including the hack streak. Just use them. Maybe you can ask support after using them to remove the AP if it really gives you a fit.
Have you submitted a ticket about it? It's something that either @NianticBrian or @NianticThia can do with your account as they have the ability to do so. Seeing as they want to audit help tickets, this might make it easier for you.
We'll give the translation of a Japanese Haiku an A++ :)
@GreenVam Haiku, you say? Technically senryu I think but I'll roll with it.
I am out of space
And I hate double AP
Please take my Apex
Get monthly apex
Create new topic in angst
"Use item" solves it
Ingress agents really have such weird hang ups about stats and numbers and finding ways to try and be #1 at some asinine stats that literally no one cares about or even knows about. Like, seems like this agent probably loves to flex to other agents about how they have the purest AP of everyone. Look at me, my AP all came the “real” way. Well, what about those apex boosts? No, I still have them all, so my AP is more cool than your AP. *proudly displaying ‘Purest AP’ badge*
On the other hand, doesn’t seem like too much time to code either a trash button or just not let them count towards your inventory.
@ZeroHecksGiven This one is purely for me... I want to feel like my stats are an honest reflection of the things I've done, not an inflated one. If I had a bunch of unearned AP I'd feel like there was an asterisk on that stat and it would bug me. My Recon badge is a good example of that-- the count on my profile is inflated because of double agreements in 2020, and I mentally kept myself at platinum until the number in Wayfarer hit 10K.
Just use it and then sit on it without playing if you want to get rid of them.
This is really selfish at this point. Isn't the glitch to remove preminum items still possible? @InvestigateXM
Have you asked to have your illuminator badge reflect your actual mu captured? You keep saying how you threw the largest field ever even though it was a glitch. Maybe you need an honest representation of that badge. But since it's already inflated why even worry about ap being inflated? It makes no sense. It's not like using an apex gives you that much ap anyway.
why are people even hoarding so many apex ? seen a few with 80+ apex in their inventory, why ? only takes up space u could have use for other stuff.
@mortuus The reason I'm not getting rid of them is that I want to recycle them rather than getting AP for using them. But really what I want is to be able to recycle fungible purchased items. When I looked at the count my brain immediately started singing 76 Trombones and rewriting the lyrics on the fly. I'm a musical theatre nerd, and it seemed like something fun to share.
@VenomousToad I actually considered that a while ago but realized that my actual MU captured was visible with simple arithmetic. With double AP there's no way to figure it out.
No, it was fixed a few updates ago.
Um, whatever stat someone chases, whether it be pure AP, links to field ratio or km/AP stat or whatever, does not matter. One of the beautiful things about Ingress is you can play it how you want to.
Adding a recycle button for premium items does not seem to be rocket science.
I gave up on recursing. I see no point in starting over and over and over. I get enough VR mods from just basic hacking/playing. So that's not a reason. I've done it 6x. It was good when I had badgers to work on. But I'm out of game play based badgers to work on. Most have wings. It was noted that we'd get extra stuff for recursing. Yet that obviously isn't going to happen. If I'm not trying to get back up to L16, is there a reason to use Apex? I have over 500+ million AP. Using an Apex at this point doesn't matter if I'm not working on leveling up. I have more than 30 of them currently with no plans to use them. Too bad I can't gift them to someone else who might use them.
I'd take all your apex if I could. All the missed 2x AP events I missed because of my ding dang work trips to the Ice wall.
but u get to see polar bears xd
This game is easy to hoard stuff unintentionally. I think I still have 50 apex. It's just really have no dedicated time for double AP and with 2500 inventory...I can ignore it.
Mediocre. Nice effort though,
Just like your posts on here 👍
Except we all know there's no effort
Nice one Goomy :) Keep deflecting the lack of creativity in this game through Apex piles, etc.
