Now that 2xR7's are gone, it's time for some new features to encourage Recursion.

Proposal: Earn (1) of these features every time an Agent Recurses:

Mod Feature (4 levels): Allow deployment of 3rd Mod, then 4th Mod, upgrade Common Mod to Rare, Upgrade Rare Mod to Very Rare

Resonator Feature (4 levels): Deploy 4xR5, Deploy 4xR6, Deploy 2xR7, Deploy 2xR8.

Link Feature (4 levels): Increase links under fields to 1km, then 2km, then 4km, then 8km.

Wayfarer Feature (Can be requested multiple times) : Earn 25 free POI Upgrades (similar to OPR Live)

---

What other features can Agents think of?

There’s plenty to play for outside of gr1nding (was censored) ap. If there isn’t for you, then quitting is probably the best course of action.

Exactly, achieving a purpose in the game!

Alternatively or together with this we could be getting great exercise or visiting cool places, or making fields for team score or to strengthen an area.

All the ap one earns doing these kind of things means something then, as opposed to rubbish ap from L1 deploys or destroying one’s own work through flips or battle beacons just to replay what was already done for ap. This kind of compulsive repetitive activity will increase if recursion is further rewarded.

The one exception I would say warrants doing this kind of activity is when there is a challenge event and planning and executing how to blast through as a one off is meaningful.

In ingress, the only way to develop and unique a character is to earn a badge. Playing for badges is stupid. Medals in the profile do not affect anything. We don't have unique skills, we don't have the ability to make a unique character with their own strengths and weaknesses. The only way we can stand out is either profile badges or the use of cheating applications, after which you will start to stink and you will be remembered for a long time. Can anyone explain to me why to swing after level 12? Why are you doing recursion after recursion if it gives you absolutely nothing? Except for the profile icon, of course.

no to link under fields, this bs idea should be completely removed

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on this, @wiredforsound! I'll pass this on to the team to look into it.

Well they do it because that's how you flex in Ingress. Do you really play Ingress if you can't brag about how unique you are. How you were the first in your zip code to onyx this or that, how you have so many more days on your sojourner medal, etc. Sometimes this game revolves more around those stats than actually winning cycles. Like, cool, you're retired and have more time to play this game than me, congratulations on your achievements that mean nothing to most people, get you zero bonuses in the game and at some point, will likely be completely gone and the only thing you have to show for it is a few screenshots and some memories you're probably embarrassed to share with anyone who doesn't already know what Ingress is.

I think an additional free key locker should be awarded each time someone hits L16, though maybe put a cap on it. The first locker could be bronze, the second silver... until someone has hit L16 five times and gets the onyx key locker.

We all have different preferences of play in Ingress. You can tell a lot from someone's profile. What medals do they leave blank (not even bronze)? What was their first onyx? What's the oldest they haven't advanced? I have no blanks, with the long-time badges all platinum and onyx - except purifier, which is gold. Meanwhile, my SpecOps is 3x onyx. That's pretty unique to me.

The main new thing I want for recursing, is for the wings to be public, even tho my other stats are private.

I think some negative comments could be addressed by adding badges to recursion levels. Adding ONE badge to each level (in like color) wouldn't be much, because their annual badge would take care of that. So, at least two badges per recursion. This would get long-time players to focus on things they maybe hadn't focused on in a long time. Or get them to participate in special event badges. It would build up - like, for your 3rd recursion, you'd need 6 extra badges at each level.
