Hello, I’m new.

Level 39 Pokémon go player, just started this game a couple hours ago, and I need Help.

Okay, so I went to a local church, followed the tutorial, and set up resonators at three unoccupied (I think?) portals and linked them.

got a lot of items I have no clue what they are for except most look like they are supposed to blow stuff up.

next nearest portal is another mile away, not walking that far today, already walked over 12 kilometers earlier for a Pokémon go task.

main thing I’m asking is what am I supposed to be doing, exactly?

  • At the core level:

    • Explore your community.
    • Build portals.
    • Make links between portals.
    • Complete triangular fields.

The challenge comes in when you need to stop others from building their fields, and they try to stop you from building (or keeping) your fields. For the "Here's a concrete metric" values, tap the Action Ring, and select Scores, to see your regional score for the current cycle (slightly more than 7 day periods).

  • Thanks.

I’m guessing this means that if I see a huge field of an opposing team very close by, I could have trouble as a low level player?

according to the intel map it covers a large area by where I work, covers several counties in that direction, actually.

You might find https://www.smurfling.guide/ as a helpful guide. It's RES themed so if you're ENL, just invert the factions in your mind where appropriate.

  • Fields depend on the portals holding them up. As a new player, your first goal would be getting to level 8. Once you succeed in that, you are largely "as powerful" as anyone else. Their only advantage is experience and a larger XM bar.

    Welcome to Ingress.

Typically, the big spice is capturing portals and key to link portals to portals and create control fields.

But there are a wide variety of other ways to have fun.

I don't want to force you to play that way.

Please consult with other Ingress players in your area and find your own way to enjoy the game.
