Question about spoofing, reports and bans.
In my city we've been reporting odd activity from some agents with their main accounts, and turns out 3 of them got banned in the past time. The thing is one of them got their account back after a short time, about a month. The other 2 got banned in the last 2 weeks so I still don't know if they're gonna get them back but I'd like to know if is it possible that they're gonna get it back? And why would they? I mean, does spoofing also work with strikes? One of them is one of the most toxic, if not the most, player in my city and we always suspected he uses spoofing methods and this ban confirmed it. I really wish he never gets his account back although he already has a new one.
The other question I got is about reporting, sometimes I fill a report just in case they are cheating when they have odd activity. This week I reported someone that had what I considered a weird behavior and reaction after a blockade, that report ended with their account out of the system. Is there any possibility of a "false positive" when reporting someone and that that ends in a ban? Or does it work more like: if you're not cheating you will never get banned even if they report you? I'm asking because I never thought this person was spoofing so their ban got me surprised and I wondered if they got banned unfairly or not 😋.

If the Agents were being "toxic", is it possible that they were temporarily banned for inappropriate messages in COMM? I know Agents that's happened to.
Just because you think they were spoofing doesn't mean that's what Niantic banned them for.
@Toxoplasmolly when I said toxic i was talking about his gameplay style and behavior when they were under attack or blocked. He has this weird superiority complex as he cannot be blocked or under a field cause as soon as that happens he brings out spoofing accounts to destroy anchors or links and start throwing links out of the city as soon as they fall. Or the fact that he has endless keys of portals taken by lvl 1-3 agents outside the city. Oh and he has also threatened other agents via telegram or WhatsApp, he's smart enough to not say many things in comm, but not enough to not use his main account to spoof.
Would hope spoofing is insta ban, not temp ban but unsure.
To help us make sure we’re collecting feedback related to spoofing in a productive way, we’re centralizing the conversation to this thread. We’re also going to start enforcing our Ingress Community Guidelines, in particular when conversations get heated and some of our guidelines are ignored or violated.
Still unsure why we restricted to one thread... (The reasoning behind it).
The reasoning is to avoid having the hundreds of threads that used to be posted by the same people over and over whenever everyone disagreed with their claims. Which seems to have worked at least. But I agree it's an issue that they really need to address in that thread instead of making it feel like a topic that's been shunted aside and ignored.
Which it has and not a single clarification from Niantic since the thread was created.
Of that, I can't dispute.
A separate general topic was created because of numerous topics with complaints from agents from Russia, mostly from Moscow, and there Nia continued to ignore them (except for one vangard).
Now the problem of spoofers in Russia is completely solved, or irrelevant :))))
"Is there any possibility of a "false positive" when reporting someone and that that ends in a ban?"
yes, it happens and it takes much more time and effort to get unbanned than to ban a real spoofer
Um ahh Ultraviolater violated the ban on spoof comments outside of main thread. Oh wait, he's the Ultraviolater. 😉 😀
*she is
otherwise true 😂
I thought you don't get an instant perma ban anymore unless you do some extreme stuff. Otherwise it's just a strike and temporary ban?
*Bows in apology*
