Yep. I see tons of stuff for Pokemon advertising. And none for Ingress.

If I can make an Instagram post, surely a billion dollar company can manage it as well?

One can get exercise and socialize without having to attend a Community Day. The monthly activity is getting redundant.

  • PkmnTrainerJPkmnTrainerJ ✭✭✭✭✭

Absolutely they can. I think one of the points of a joined up Niantic Community Day is to try and bring the whole Niantic games community together.

Pikmin Bloom and Pokémon GO have theirs on the same day each month & Harry Potter: Wizards Unite used to follow suit.

It seems Ingress is the outsider/interloper in the days set.

  • PkmnTrainerJPkmnTrainerJ ✭✭✭✭✭

Now that we have an “enemy” to battle against, can we please work it into Ingress Community Days?

  • PkmnTrainerJPkmnTrainerJ ✭✭✭✭✭

Niantic: doesn’t include Ingress in any Community Days

    Also Niantic:

So what part of that is about Community Days? You're really grasping here.

Niantic used to do "community days" ie Ingress First Saturday meetups. But that disappeared since covid-19 started.

We don't know what they plan on doing to revitalize on site local events as "community days"

The only strong hint was what was said on stage yesterday in Yokohama

Damage is done, the Ingress Devs would NEED to enable an on-site IFS medal to get local players back

  • mortuusmortuus ✭✭✭✭✭

I think thats what they plan doing next year having it onsite and not from home.

  • MoogModularMoogModular ✭✭✭✭✭

Since IFS is returning to have a physical option in 2023, it's no doubt there's going to be more unification.

That would be fab, if there are enough players around.

    Problem is 3 fold

    1) most players have black Ingress First Saturday badge. no incentive to join one if they are all in person

    2) The lack of players in a region has dwindled to extremely low numbers because Niantic are not marketing Ingress enough

    3) alienates players in regions where there only a couple of them, and have been relying on remote participation.

Introducing a new on site IFS badge would feel like a kick in the... Well you get the point. But it might facilitate getting players to go to in person IFS events.

But it boils down to one thing, the things that I've stated for multiple years now, Niantic are just not marketing Ingress enough, it's all pgo pgo pgo. Ironically, Ingress is rated higher than the that game

ARG market is saturated by different options, making it harder to attract new players thus making it more important than ever to effectively advertise Ingress

IFS has existed for 5 years before a badge was added, we don't need another one for crying out loud.

There is a lot less players around now, than there was 5 years ago, or even 2 years ago, how would you suggest on getting the very few left to come to an IFS in person?

  • MoogModularMoogModular ✭✭✭✭✭

A physical FS seems a step in the right direction...

  • Otrera35Otrera35 ✭✭✭✭

Well, not all players are off on weekends...

  • PkmnTrainerJPkmnTrainerJ ✭✭✭✭✭

This does seem like an oversight for their events for this quarter.

There’s nothing in the week for players.

  • PkmnTrainerJPkmnTrainerJ ✭✭✭✭✭

    @NianticThia / @NianticBrian

    I can see that the Q1 IFS’ are listed on the site now;

Will there be any Niantic staff attending locations to provide Ingress swag or trying to

…provide an opportunity to onboard new recruits.

As per the information? Would be a great way of getting new Agents this weekend as the Pokémon GO Community Day is the same day.

  • PkmnTrainerJPkmnTrainerJ ✭✭✭✭✭

I know that many Agents likely don’t play the other game where there is a Community Day today but they had a surprise drop at the end of it.

It’s nothing much, but besides Machina for Year 10, when was the last similar thing like this we got?

Mixing it up a bit at Ingress Community Days First Saturdays would be very welcome.

  • PkmnTrainerJPkmnTrainerJ ✭✭✭✭✭

One of the other games has announced their Community Days for the next few months, along with highlighting some “save the date” events without further details. Any chance we could get the same?

    Saturday, March 18, 2023

    Saturday, April 15, 2023

Saturday, April 29, 2023 (Community Day Classic)

    Sunday, May 21, 2023

Community Days aren’t the only events on the horizon—here are the dates for additional in-game events coming next Season!

    Sunday, March 5, 2023

    Saturday, March 11, 2023

    Sunday, April 9, 2023

    Sunday, April 23, 2023

Saturday, May 27, to Sunday, May 28, 2023

None of these seem to line up with a First Saturday but the April 9th one would be Second Sunday. The 18th March one lines up with when we have the next Anomaly however.

Are the days of a joint Niantic Community Day done? I’d be interested to know if Niantic think it worked last year and if not, what they’ll do differently.

  • GrogyanGrogyan ✭✭✭✭✭

We aren't even near finishing our Q1 events

So Ingress dev team are likely finalizing Q2 events including community days

  • tp235tp235 ✭✭✭✭

They have not held a joint Niantic Community Day for about six months since last fall.

The last time Niantic posted the #NianticCommunityDay hashtag on Twitter should have been October 15, 2022.

And the tweets from the Pico Global account below it are nothing short of laughable from an Ingress agent's point of view.

The first photo posted is of a Pokémon Master who is believed to have three accounts.

If Niantic had intended to continue this program, it could have been held during the XM Anomaly or Pokémon GO's last community day.

    However, it was never held.

So at this point, we believe that this program has been scrapped, as well as the Third Saturday that Niantic organized in 2016 for Pokémon GO players. (At the time, Pokémon trainers rarely reacted to this initiative.)

And while the interaction between different game players is great, if you look at the real world, the moral level of not questioning the fact that the same players are throwing balls at imaginary creatures one by one after multiple smartphones are lined up on a drawing board in a raid battle, and they keep hitting the screen like gorillas. The thing is that almost no Ingress agent would consider friending a game player.

Therefore, the joint event would not reach Niantic's goal, as it would likely result in three separate communities interacting separately within it that do not intersect.

  • PkmnTrainerJPkmnTrainerJ ✭✭✭✭✭

I feel that Niantic have missed a shot here for March as 18th March is the MZPFK event, a Pokémon GO Community Day and a Pikmin Bloom Community Day.

Will be lots of Niantic game players walking around.

  • Otrera35Otrera35 ✭✭✭✭

It only shows that Ingress Prime is the skirt steak of the franchises....

  • mortuusmortuus ✭✭✭✭✭

seems more ingress isnt their nr1 prio to increase userbase when it comes to spred the word out

  • PkmnTrainerJPkmnTrainerJ ✭✭✭✭✭

Which is a shame. If only they’d give it even half of the advertising budget that NBA All World seems to have had. That’s EVERYWHERE right now and the game kinda sucks.

  • HAHAYIKESHAHAYIKES ✭✭✭

Haha for real. That game was cool for the first hour and then I was like "so we just do three point contests and 1v1 where you dribble right twice and then dunk it... and I thought catching 1000 Pidgeys was boring..."
