Quit it with playing victim when something doesn't go your way.
What am I going to be doing at a portal for 5 minutes? I would definitely be moving with a better hack time. The strategy of this game has not changed in years. People have keys regardless of the time it takes to hack.
My own city is literally limping by with social meetups, as though you have 1 and half legs amputated, because of the decision to retain the 90s.
The attrition of gear of the 5 minute Hacks, lead players to regularly meet up, and even new players to meet up to get gear. And it made Ingress vibrant.
The 90 second Hacks have destroyed the social aspect of Ingress in Auckland.
And have also seen this occur in all cities in New Zealand.
We still have a monthly First Saturday which we physically meet up and socialise. But even this number is extremely small.
So you want to keep 90 second Hacks?
The Ingress community will keep losing players worldwide because there is no incentive to keep meeting up due easy infinite gear and keys.
I have also harped on to the developers to do more to market Ingress to new players.
And to bring back a story, those that enjoy story in games.
Am hopeful that the @NianticBrian is aware of the attrition of players month on month, and that he has plans to market Ingress to new players. Niantic Social is a key part of that plan, but the gameplay and game balance cannot be ignored either.
At this stage you're just reaching now. People arwnt leaving because of lower hack speeds, they are leaving because the game in general hasn't changed in years. I've spoken to quite a few returning players who say the hack speed being 90 seconds is amazing, they hated having to wait around.
100% guarantee that the 90s cooldown is not responsible for lack of social meetups or any sort of strategy. If anything, the fast cool downs make it easier for people to meet up, do the hacking, then get their social on. It certainly works for me around here. We get the busy hacking out of the way to drink beers faster. "Things changed so therefore the other thing that changed is responsible" is just bad logic.
Ingress lost a bunch of players with the Prime rollout, and in areas where it's kept declining, it's because the remaining players didn't do the work to keep a social group going. Ingress has never been easy in that way, and always took people actively working on the social environment to survive. No in-game change has as much effect as the organizers in a region.
Good luck with that request. Once upon a time, an agent can deploy two L8 resonators then Niantic nerfed that down to a point that one agent can only deploy one L8 resonator. There was another time that an agent can deploy a beacon and fireworks in one portal, then Niantic changed the rule and nerfed it down wherein one can only deploy a beacon or a firework. Now, Niantic decides to nerf the deployment of L7 resonators by one agent down to one. The rationale behind the decision is everything seems to be easy for agents to level up and capitalism. Niantic needs to make more money on its game by prolonging the gameplay of its players. Plus, it's the first quarter of the year too. What's next? Niantic changes another rule wherein one agent can deploy one L6 resonator? The changes are a huge gamble for this company considering that it lost a lot of players in the recent Ukraine-Russian War
u dont need to be over dramatic geez relax, its about game-balance and not anything else, a company of 2 can already deploy twice what a single agent can and that is how it should be, double r7 and 8 can be at small mini events but this is now over a year active..
@mortuus, it is about facts and not being overdramatic. Niantic needs to capitalize on something in Ingress like PoGo especially it is the first quarter of the year. Investors will be questioning the viability of this game if Niantic does not generate revenue from it.
Is it really a nerf when the pandemic gameplay was always stated as a bonus? I don't even know how capitalism fits this when you can easily get items from normal game play.
Not really, when Niantic noticed that it makes it easy to level in their games like PoGo and players started losing interest in playing the game; Niantic added 10 additional levels and added tasks to make it more difficult to level up and reach 50. The same pattern can be observed with Ingress. Oh! New players are quickly leveling up, let's change the rules and nerf something so the gameplay can be prolonged and get more money from those legitimate players. Whereas, players who level up because of spoofing are not dealt effectively by Niantic despite reports by legitimate players.
It's weird putting together a lot of issues that are unrelated to each other to come to such a conclusion. Like I said before, if you dislike it so much then why are you still here?
they need to solve the daily lag that playes suffer from daily more or less, thats a big factor why game has hard recruit new agents if the servers cant hold up well.
It doesn't make sense to allocate resources for a game that does not generate revenue. While Niantic's investors will be the ones to influence which games will continue or be placed on the chopping block. The game which will remain is the one that pays the bills. Something to closely watch around the 3rd and 4th quarters.
Ingress is hitting 10 years this November. It's their only entity that is 100 percent Niantic. It might not generate as much revenue but the cost to maintain it isn't going to be as much as any other Niantic game.

This has nothing to do about hacking and is a separate issue altogether.

Your ignorance is amazing about this.
Strictly depends on portal density. If you have a 50 m to the next portal you will haxk both of them. If it's 5 I'm + you'll stuck around.

Before covid it was always:
1 L8, 1 L7, 2 L6, 2 L5, 4 L4, 4 L3, 4 L2, 8 L1
Is it really a nerf when the pandemic gameplay was always stated as a bonus? I don't even know how capitalism fits this when you can easily get items from normal game play.

You effectively have no advantage after L8.

Here's a link that supports the conclusion: Annual mobile revenue generated by Niantic worldwide from 2015 to 2021. Reduced earnings last year.
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1255744/niantic-annual-app-revenue/
2020 was the best year to date for Niantic, and 2021 only reduced because 2020 was so good. 2021 was still higher than 2019 by far.
Reduced earnings that were more than previous years...so how does that even pertain to Ingress?
Supports the conclusion very poorly.
they need to solve the daily lag that playes suffer from daily more or less, thats a big factor why game has hard recruit new agents if the servers cant hold up well.
Well, we will have to look at the last quarter if Ingress will survive or experience the same fate as HPWU.
Warner Media pulled the plug on HPWU.

Yet, the criticisms and incidents surrounding this game might influence those investors to recommend a different direction for this AR mobile game.
Additionally it's the test bed for new functionality, free of (the majority of) paying customers.
