Show me the part where I said recharging portals was violating TOS... oh right, I didn't say that. I was giving an example of how the AP bonus for recharging incentivized players to recharge portals that wouldn't normally be recharged and as a result make gameplay more stagnant. And I don't know what you are going on about with spoofing or how it is relevant to what I posted.
If that's the case, we would have to remove anything of Wayfarer and the drones. Also, you don't speak for John Hanke when he's not even active on here.
I'm surprised at you trying to maintain this idea that Niantic is perfect with their ideas when we both know their execution never is the best. Their philosophy on the games is exercising and exploring. Trying to make this a numbers game is pointless since after you make 1.2 million AP, you are able to access the full core gameplay.
Stagnant? Why would it be stagnant when you can easily free your inventory. Just imagine having all those Apex that one gets every month from the CORE subscription. I recall that was what the agent commented one time because it was taking up her storage. Btw, what I said about some agents view as recharging the portals as a violation of the TOS was an observation recently because it seems like a sin to them for an agent to still recharge portals. While their factions have multiple account users, spoofers, and multi-accounters and there is not an issue with them.
Not sure how you got the idea that I was talking about inventory management. I'm talking about activity on the map. An area that is recharged for weeks or months becomes stagnant as far as new activity, that is until a player from the opposite faction comes through and takes it down. An area that decays every week can be rebuilt and see new activity. The AP bonus encouraged keeping more areas stagnant by elevating recharging from a maintenance activity to an AP grind activity.
I agree with you in principle, however the fact that people are crying over 55AP shows that your claim is inaccurate for many people. AP does motivate many people to play, even if it doesn't motivate you. Otherwise no-one would care if they dropped it from 65AP to 10AP. Empirical evidence to the contrary, in this thread.
If that's the case, we would have to remove anything of Wayfarer and the drones.
If they were sticking to their core principle, they would remove the drones.
Also, you don't speak for John Hanke when he's not even active on here.
I'm not speaking "for" him. I'm repeating what he's said in interviews, presentations, in-person... He constantly repeats that the driving goal behind founding Niantic and Ingress, was "to get my kids off the couch and out exploring".
Not sure what you mean about reactivating activity on a map. Players may find it exciting doing the capture the flag activity at first, but it does tend to cause burnout, making it a chore. Been there and done that, not to mention the charade and drama that came with that territory. If this game wants to survive, multiple ways of playing the game need to exist that adapt to the player's schedule and lifestyle. Forcing an activity on a player is non-productive and will be met with strong opposition. Look at what's happening with PoGo, a lot of players are already reacting to the research tasks than are turning out to be chores on community days on Facebook.
Would you like to phone a friend on what "activity on the map" means? Sorry if you think doing anything but recharging is a chore, but some of us like to go for badges like onyx mind controller.
I don't recall signing a contract with Niantic that I have to go out all the time and get an onyx mind controller badge. Oh yeah, I did see a few players got mind controller badges because they got a lot of questionable help. Those are the agents who can't even complete a decent amount of missions for the Spec Ops Badge.
Just like no one said recharging was against TOS as you falsely suggested, no one said you had to sign a contract to make fields. Got any more strawman arguments?
Like I said Niantic should offer it's game multiple ways of playing making it adaptable to the player's schedule and lifestyle. Forcing an activity on a player is non-productive and will be met with strong opposition. Thank you for clarifying about recharging as a violation of TOS because it seems other agents act so OC about it as if they are exemplars of what outstanding agents out there. Different IGNs, same MOs.....

Literally no-one claimed it was a violation of the TOS.
I thought I was going crazy trying to find a reference.....!?!?!? I don't see any prior mention of tos either.....

I found that the drone makes me to go out and play more often, because I can't use the items from the drone hacks when I sit on my couch.

Yeah, this is also true for getting drone uniques. I'm often driving to different towns and cities to drop off my drone where it hasn't been.
