[Feature Request] Revert to Lifetime AP when hitting 16
Currently, when you recurse, your AP is set to zero, but your Lifetime AP continues to accrue. This is great when you're leveling up again, tracking your progress.
However, when you get to level 16 again, the display drops the second value and continues to accrue AP against only the recursed AP. The value itself becomes meaningless, because for most people at 16, they don't care how much since their last recursion.
They care about their Lifetime AP at that point.
When you hit Leve 16, the main display AP at the top of the screen in the profile, and the top of the screen on the main window, should revert to your Lifetime AP. When you choose to recurse again, the process would repeat, allowing you to go back to progression AP for that recursion, but again on hitting level 16, return to Lifetime AP.
No-one really cares how much AP they've gotten after their 2nd recursion, once they pass 40 million. It's only relevant while they're levelling.

Many ppl i know only recursed once just for wings.....
Was just thinking about this a couple days ago. Definitely wouldn't mind a couple of recursion updates, one of them being this.
Another would be to drop the medal requirements.
I would much rather see lifetime AP as the main stat and AP-since-recursion as a secondary one. Lifetime AP is the primary accomplishment, after all. X/Y to the next level should also be a secondary stat rather than the first one that's displayed.
I agree with the AP since recursion while leveling back to 16 but yeah after that it's somewhat pointless.
@Perringaiden Why would you want AP since recursion rather than lifetime AP?
The lifetime AP stat is a defining characteristic of the player... it's the main metric of how much they've played. The others are mostly just useful for the agent themselves so they can see their next target.
My "AP since recursion" currently stands as a monument that I was possibly one of the first agents to recurse on exactly 100M AP (18 Nov 2018) so... yeah okay it's somewhat pointless but it's also a silly vanity stat that's nice to keep somewhere on the screen. It doesn't have to be the headline value. I get that this wouldn't matter for most agents although all the cool guys are doing it these days. :-)
Can you explain this with images of the scanner?
You're essentially saying if during any recursion, when I hit above 40 million AP - it should display the overall AP for the bigger number display in your faction color? Poked you in COMM for this:
Yes but more importantly, on the main screen it show the 227 million each time I gain AP.
What's the benefit of recursing? Is it just the wings? I can get better wings from Wingstop in different flavors. :)
Wings, Battle Beacon with Core, general interest in having another burst of play because you hit 16 years ago.
TBH, the above incentives are not enticing enough for some agents. I would probably celebrate going to WingStop when I hit Level 16 and buy wings in different flavors, open a bottle of champagne, and say "Cheers! Here's my way of Recursing." Will save that photo in my own SItreps :)

I'm not claiming they are. The request is that when we're 'done' with the recursion phase of levelling, to return to our total numbers. If you don't recurse, this isn't an issue.
lose your permanent lvl 16 xm tank.. not sure why ppl the second they hit lvl 16 they go hey lets reset the xm bar tank and spend another year climb to lvl 16 and then recurse the same minut and lose your highest benefit for holding xm... kinda funny to me doing something over and over and it doesnt give u any benefits at all, if anything its a downside..
@mortuus with right area & turnover can get back to 16 in 3-4 months on average
It actually does give you benefits because these days you get a massive amount of kit for levelling up (including Apex boosts). Personally I've no real interest in recursing again. I did it once but I only make about 20M AP per year (probably a bit more than that now, but it was less during the pandemic).
It doesn't take everyone a year to level back to 16 after recursing. After all it's only AP that you need to gain after recursing. If anything, it's easier than hitting 16 the first time (no badges to gain). I did 2x recursions in 2021. Others do much more.
Granted I haven't recursed again since I hit 16 after my 6th recursion. Personally, I don't see any further reason to do it. Would be nice to have better perks from doing it, but other than that, it's just the repetition of building a bunch of fields and waiting for them to decay.
Yes, please omit the medal requirements. 🙏
Agree, it sounds like groundhog day since one has to do the recursion all over again. If the benefits/rewards are better like giving an agent a larger inventory space upon recursing; it would be nice. Btw, since we are talking about wings; if you were to choose a Wingstop wing flavor, what would you select (Atomic? Mango Habanero? Spicy Korean, or Hawaiian). Just curious.
Agree.
getting back to L16 was a terrible grind. without any tangible benefit for multiple recursions, i see no point in doing it a second time.
I got back to 16 the third time in 3 months. It's not that it's hard. It's just not terribly interesting or 'worth it'.
Another benefit is 16 more care packages for each level up.
A lot of the benefit of recursion depends upon your personal motivations for playing.
Lots of people enjoy accumulated (edited out that G-word because the forum software blocks it) AP or stats, and that's where a lot of their personal reward comes from. Other people are motivated by projects of whatever sort-- hunting badges, controlling territory, supporting the team, fielding, destruction. For people whose motivations are more centered around the playing field than around personal stats recursion isn't really interesting.
I'm one of the people whose primary incentive comes from the playing field rather than stats. I recursed on the exact minute of my five-year anniversary, got back to 16 in around four months, and will do it again on the exact minute of my tenth anniversary if the game is still around and I'm still playing. For the ten year I'll probably go to London and start at the first portal I ever hacked.
Just to keep on topic:
The request is that when we're 'done' with the recursion phase of levelling, to return to our total numbers.
Not whether it's worth doing. 😊
for agents interested in AP, would it be useful to have "AP gained" in the weekly and monthly stats?
