i knew at one point they were working on not hard coding in those assets. but that was ages ago. did they never get there?
one of my bigger complaints is lack of an asset cache. it shouldn't take forever to view all my mission medals. client side caching of of those images would save on server load.
It's adorable that you think I and others haven't been following the news. Maybe instead of parroting the news and applying it to anything and everything, demonstrate to us how banning Niantic games in Russia will have any impact on Putin and why he would care? Explain to us how Niantic shutting off their game will cripple the Russian economy in the same way as the current sanctions. Furthermore, give us your plan on how Niantic gets anybody in Russia to play their games ever again when this crisis (hopefully soon) subsides. A game that is struggling to retain its player base would be incredibly stupid to start banning entire countries from playing when it will only impact ordinary people who play their game.
You know, there are laws that punish not just for some action, but also for inaction. Inaction is what people do in Russia and Belarus. They don't try to stop this. They just watch. They pay their taxes and sponsor this. This is a part of this crime that is happening. They are responsible for this too, everyone who doesn't go out to the streets and doesn't protest. There's no excuse.
Mostly large financial institutions, energy giants, and other conglomerates. You know, things that will actually impact the Russian economy and get Putin's attention. Which is a great thing. Anything Niantic does will be merely symbolic in comparison. Peace beacons or adding new glyphs is a way for Niantic to show their support, without hemorrhaging entire countries of their player base.
Here, we are debating in the community forums what to do to support the Ukrainians which is inconsequential to what Ukrainians have to do right now which is to fight for their freedom and sovereignty with their own lives. The light of democracy itself. It seems it is too much to ask Niantic to do something brave to support Ukraine unlike other companies and Switzerland out there. I also believe that members here can show and teach Niantic what "community" is all about.
If you want to support Ukraine, please donate through the link below that leads to the verified charitable organizations. Thank you.
Yet there have been Russians protesting against this war as well and it's pretty horrible to think they will just disappear in the prison.
Be aware of any and all things you read and see. Our social networks are echo chambers of what we think is valid and what we think isn't valid - it will not look for the inbetween.
- If you want to support Ukrainians with a beacon, blue and yellow XM or whatever - just do it.
- I don't believe in innocent Russians but even being Ukrainian I don't think Niantic should really consider banning them from Ingress: the rest of world will do.
PS
There are lots of people who support us in Russia and protest. There are lots of people there, who just afraid of being arrested and do nothing. There are lots of people who hate us and would **** us. I'm pretty sure there are agents belonging to each of these groups.
But this is not a topic about hate. And not a topic about Russians. Ukrainian agents just asked about the support (I think voting is enough for people to show if they agree and no discussion needed). Regarding the Russian aggression itself I have an opinion but have no time to explain because have to go into the bomb shelter. Literally

You'll only be hurting ordinary people playing this game. Putin won't be affected and couldn't care less if his people can't play Niantic games.
Only if you are banning their leaders. The people are against the fighting.

It is an obscene phrase, not translatable and understandable only to Slavic language groups. It roughly means "Russian warship, get out of here".
Was uttered by Ukrainian border guards from Island "Змеиный", when a warship approached them and offered to surrender.

Google translate Russian to English does translate it just fine.
I'm honestly surprised how many agents are still playing Ingress in the region.
Будьте в безпеці агенти!
If you think the concept of damaging the working class is cool. It's not going to affect Putin.
Yet there have been Russians protesting against this war as well and it's pretty horrible to think they will just disappear in the prison.

I agree. Introduce a Ukraine beacon and send the proceeds to an organization that is supporting refugees.
@NianticBrian
I think this thread should be closed.

Ingress Community should ban such hateful speech provoking antihuman behaviors from the forum btw.
Hey, "sanctions" are not excuses and opportunities for anybody to exploit and develop racism topics here.
"Sactions for peace" is one thing, your "Remove everything relevant to the race of Russia" speech is another.
Niantic behaves like a Russian owned company.
Remind me how many anomalies were in Russia and how many in Ukraine?
Isn't capitalism great?
OK. Professional propaganda materials. And your account shows up in Kiev, Kyiv city recently.
I got it. No wonder you even want Google Translate to remove the entire Russian language.
