Through speed tests I'm getting about double speeds on 5G compared to LTE. While actions aren't going through twice as fast, they do seem to go through a little bit faster for me on 5G compared to LTE. Using Google Fi.
Uploading nominations, and wayspot scans are indeed faster.
Normal gameplay, I have not seen any marked improvement.
If you are referring to the current lag? This has nothing to do with network connection, but rather a bug in the comms layer of the game, and it is the same bug is present in Pokémon GO
When I open another app, then go back to Ingress - Ingress has to restart. I hear that doesn't happen with the newest phones. (I have a Samsung A51.) But I don't think that has anything to do with network.
No thats due to the memory management in your phone, not sure how much ram it has, 4gb or 8 ? some phones barely handles 2 apps running at same time and switching between them can cause one to force close. if there is a battery save toogle try disable it and maybe it can help. newer phones with good hardware should handle a few apps running just fine without force killing them when u toggle beteween a few.
It happens on a Pixel 6 with 8GB of RAM if I go to the Camera or another game like Pokemon Go. It's nothing to do with Network and everything to do with system memory management.

Cant see any difference, but never did some proper testing on that.
it dont help if the game servers has latency problems. u can be home on 100mbit wifi and still it can lag bad..

No, Ingress is not faster on "5G"
Current 5G is not 5G, more of a 4G+

Specifically, discussed on this thread:
No, there are still latency issues even though one is using 5G Internet speed.
