Bgan only portals

Should it be fare to use and recharge bgan only portals to keep player you don't like from playing? We have 2 semi local players who find, capture, and anchor fields from bgan only portals. Then they keep the fields up for months at a time, so nobody can play.

  • Anything's "fair" that's not against TOS. Some players like the extra challenge, that's what they find fun.

  • Challenging and fair. Sorry.

It's like portal on off shore islands, portals with restricted access, portals up mountains that are 3 days hike. All fair. Just require an agent with the right gear and motivation to cap it.

there are hard to get portals, and then there are HARD to get portals. They are the most fun ones to capture.

  • I had only 1 portal in my town for years. the only way i got to play was to put up the kind of field you are talking about. the opposition would come take it down and we would put it back. I took pride in how far people would come to get my field. now because they couldnt compete i have had that portal deleted ( it was a Post office) I guess if some cant compete, they cheat!

also what is a bgan portal

@farmerjohn739 maybe try to resubmit, it should go through OPR fast. Post Offices are good candidates.

  • @Patka07 Thank you . I have 35 more subs in my area I'm currently trying to force through with upgrades. Problem is I have an exclusive area for my faction and even Churches, Historical Markers and Parks all get voted down because they are known to be my subs. A problem with OPR in Rural areas.

Tens of thousands of portals all over the world. I'm not going to worry about that single one on a remote island that takes a week's journey on a kayak and a prayer to an Aztec temple. :p

  • @farmerjohn739 a BGAN portal is a portal in an area without cell phone service, and you can only play if you have (very expensive) satellite Internet such as Broadband Global Area Network

I've heard of some experiments with SpaceX's Starlink as an alternative. It's not exactly portable in its current incarnation, and you need a fairly beefy power source, but it should work.
