Character badges in the in-game store
Why can’t we have all the past and current Ingress character badges and or special badges like ADA on offer on regular basis in the in-app store? It would not hurt the game ballance for anybody @NianticBrian @NianticThia Please consider adding this option. Thank you for your hard work to make this game fun and fair for all of us.

apparently they didnt sell so well when they were on sale before..
What was the approximate cost of them previously (cmu/usd)?
Maybe that was a holdup? Then again shouldn't that just be almost pure profit at this point?
For many agents, having a Character badge is almost a “badge of honor” hence (probably) why they don’t often offer them for sale digitally. It means they were on-site during an event and (possibly) met the character in person. Yes the past years’ character cards are on sale in the loadout kits but in very limited supply.
Again this is just one Agent’s opinion, and does not in any way resemble Niantic’s actual viewpoint or logic.
Uh right what was it... 16-18k cmu or something 🤔
They were sold as part of a digital loadout for anomalies. Same with the archives. 19000 CMU
They are selling ugly Kureze medal now for the price of 10 beacons and noone’s complaining. It seems like forever since the last on-site meeting. Loadout kits are snatched in-bulk by organised groups and then re-sold at ridiculous prices 🤷🏻♂️
They were a lot of CMU before, and probably not many bought them, but we now have CORE agents with a lot of left over CMU who would want to get these older badges I think.
I didn’t buy any as I didn’t see a connection to them. It seemed like something you needed to acquire in person. I wish I had the foresight about the holiday medals as well, thankfully I only purchased two of them and would pay again to have them removed…
The thing I'm not understanding with Niantic is they do this halfass effort for physical kits when they don't use the digital store to their benefit.
I think after the kits from last month, I'm done with buying any physical kits from Niantic. The logic is just not there.
each tiem they add characters medals at same price than original people says it's too expensive 😅
I agree, a lot of players just want the digital stuff and don't care about the physical.
While at the same time the people that want the physical stuff have a hard time buying it in the store, because the demand is higher than inventory :(
so the drone badge will be on sale in like 6 months or so ? like it was the first time after the nl kits was sold... not sure why they want always wait so long earn a little extra money ? strange logic to not meet the demand for some reason
I wouldn't mind them releasing character medals one or two years after the event they're tied to, then only have them available during special events (e.g. anniversary event, Victoria Kureze character medal available during Kureze Effect, etc.). or as has been recommended recently, make the medals that are available in physical swag kits available in the digital store for a short window at the same time.
They add them as loadout kits which is dumb honestly. Offer the character a la carte as a separate thing without the addition of some loadout kit that I don't want to use.
How about gifted ones? I got my 2016 ADA from a friend in 2018. Should I have thrown it away? And Stella Vyctory with the code printed on a playing card that I got still later. What’s recursion all about in Ingress universe? Shouldn’t we be allowed to re-live the moments even if it’s only the virtual store that we use? And reat assured I am not talking about anomaly badges here.
Whatever, more „dissagrees” are welcome and in order. 😎
This.
There’s a
new2019 character badge in the store right now for the current event.I want the physical kits. I'm still trying to get a response from Niantic Supply support people about my missing packs. I'm not sure how hard it is to create swag, sell it and get it to the customer. But agents have been successfully doing it for 9 years now.
Meh
They have a store. They barely utilize it for stuff that would actually make them money. Then they hire the worst company to sell their physical swag only for each "sale" to be plagued by tons of problems. It's like they don't want to make money.
It's just all part of the grand experiment to see how much abuse we will take and still stick around.
It's like Niantic read this and did the exact opposite with the Kureze anomaly.
that's just the same pack than players bought in 2019. Same medal same price.
Wouldn't be fair if they sold it cheaper now
This is a different event though with the addition of loadout materials I am not interested in.
How would it not be fair? Previous archive kits were sold cheaper than their initial price.
Niantic is a business that has to stay afloat. Bundling the character medal with some items makes absolute sense from their side. Just be glad they’re putting the stuff in there.
I’m not into the characters at all, especially at $20, so I’ve passed on them. But people complain when they don’t sell stuff digitally and then they do and it’s not right because they bundled it with some actually decent gear?!?! 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
If you went to any NL-1331 meetup, they offered character badges a la carte for I think $10 without any loadout gear. Niantic is a business but you don't think they should provide various options - especially when they have offered them in the past? Niantic already has my money with how the CMU is tiered and it should cover the 30% cut that Apple and Google receive.
Loadout gear is nice but how many times have you gone to an anomaly and received MORE gear? In the past, we could save the rare or very rare loadouts for another time. We can't do that here with the digital loadout.
Sorry if it seems like I'm complaining but I'm trying to also bring a bit of thought-out logic.
I've been to one NL-1331 meetup. I didn't experience the character only option and only bought the pack. I do see your point in having the loadout cards separate and I have a few of them floating around now. Actually, my dog ate most of one a few weeks ago, of course the number is gone. $10 for a character only badge would appeal to me, I definitely would be on board with that. I do see your point to some degree and my argument was more or less, just that. Niantic has to keep these people employed to make sure scanning updates continue to roll out, so $20 is better than $10 and it seems like many people jumped at the opportunity to add it to their scanners...
