Not sure what do, perhaps a vanguard could escalate this somehow? what kind of harassment, verbal ? physical ? weird law encforcement does nothing i would record this person when it happens again and keep it as proof maybe,.,.
@CeruleanHeaven, make sure that you have gathered strong evidence against this case when you present it to Niantic and/or local authorities. It is the only way they can do something about it.
That was done and NIA, plus LE Integrity Department bushed it under the rug.
LE agent was recorded, libeled my character on Agent's own PUBLIC FB Page (PUBLICLY). Harassed in game, libeled in Comms, followed in an aggressive manner while on Duty playing game.
Sent ALL to NIA and LE Department. No action taken.Has been shown and made complaints multiple times.
Family of Agent threatens me when brought up and try to shut me up.
Next will be DOJ these complaints will be taken too.
Witnesses were provided, Comms, the FB post was provided.
NIA said each time to take it to LE Department, which was done.
NOTHING WAS DONE. Period. Now, the Agent bragging about it.
Does all this seem worth it to you? Like you asked if you should quit, maybe you should? I’m not trying to be a j3rk (this word is filtered, wow🤦🏼♂️), but, like, this sounds stressful and unenjoyable, so if you can’t figure out how to play and avoid this person, I’d just do something else.
You haven’t given us details, so it’s hard to say one thing or another about what you should do. End of the day, if it’s not fun, why waste your time and energy?
@CeruleanHeaven, have you tried reaching out to the vanguard/s and/or members of your local community (both factions) and explaining to them about your predicament? Every player should be given the chance to play this game without being bothered by other agents and vice versa. In any situation, there are always two sides to the whole story and it should be handled fairly.
1) If you feel libel has occurred on Facebook, this is not a criminal (law enforcement) or Niantic (has nothing to do with Facebook) matter. This is a civil matter which must be handled through a lawsuit. Be ready to prove losses from this to claim against the defendant.
2) Law enforcement communities are built on brotherhood in the police union. If you are not receiving a response from the police department, it's possible they're closing ranks and shutting you out, especially if this is a rural town. In a large city strapped for resources, they would see one mention of a video game and toss the file aside. The best thing would be to hire a lawyer and bring a lawsuit against the department. Once lawyers are involved, city hall all of a sudden has to produce facts/documentation/statements and things hit the fan. I had an instance of certain first responders harassing me years ago in-game and via social media. It took time to build a case, but eventually Niantic handed down temp/comm bans to these agents and they left me alone. I had paperwork drawn up with my lawyer, but did not file it. If they had continued, all previous documentation with Niantic, including them trying to add portals at emergency operations centers, harassment to me in/out of game (Google+, COMM, E-mail, etc. all done with their real life names tied to it) would have ended up with the city in a civil suit once it went through discovery. That should be considered a last-ditch resolution once all other avenues have been exhausted.
We're very much only hearing one side of the story here, I'm sure there's a back/forth. Considering Niantic has looked at this, I'm willing to believe they found no substantial proof to back your claim. Unfortunately, Facebook posts and circumstantial evidence (nothing officially confirmed in an investigation you have documentation of in a police report) will count towards your reports to Niantic. They only have control over what they control.
The onus falls on you to meticulously document/report these wrongdoings and financially back your claims through paying for a lawyer (assuming this is in the USA) to prove wrongdoing in the court of law. Money talks, BS walks. Separately, it would be useful to reach out to your local community, if any, to discuss. Generally agents who are problematic are filtered out over time and well known in the community.
