Wave of disapproval in OPR Central Europe
Dear Niantic,
There is a discussion on a wave of incomprehensible refusals of portal proposals in our local group of submissions located in Switzerland, it started on monday. We are 15+ Ingress submitting, we all take our time off work to do submissions and feel it has been higher then normal.
Things like playgrounds, plaques, street art which normally go through OPR without a problem are all unexpectedly high in refusals - respecting the criteria.
We are wondering if it is due to a change in the OPR system, or just Ingress players that are being less tolerant because of the beta launched in Germany and accessible in certain parts of north of Switzerland.

Valid candidates are rejected all the time, nothing new there.
Something should be done to fix the issue though.
I agree, just was wondering if anyone had the same problem and if this is normal.
In our group we counted
Normally out of 10 playgrounds submitted we had 8 approvals
This week, we had only 3 playgrounds approved out of 10
Its not because you are submitting a valid object, that your submission is valid aswell.
There can be many a thing wrong with a submission why it might end up being rejected.
Just because it happens more often now doesn't mean there is some sort of conspiracy against it.

Personally I check very carefully how I locate, I do a 360 with a pro camera and publish my own streetview, add accurate title like Playground followed by name of neighborhood, description with what age group it’s ment for children or adults... I have many well ranked “Local Guide” profiles.
My concern is that the effort we are doing to do good submissions may be affected or discrediting as invalid by the amount of poor submissions following the pogo beta in germany - not a conspiracy.
And I’m not the only one experiencing this, a large group of locals have noticed changes.. there are several discussions in different groups about the affects of pogo beta stepping in opr affecting overall subs.
Standard advice is submit again with a better photo and description.
@SoylentGrien will do 😊👍
Hoping the value of opr reviews will increase thought. I tried getting world unesco building by Le Corbusier approved here in Geneva without success. Feel there is a lot of progress to be made in the current system..
When you have already created hundreds of portals, and then suddenly valid ones start getting rejected? Yes, it's rather obvious that there's something fishy going on.
I've noticed the same over here in Finland. For instance, we have a baseball league field in the area (the matches are occasionally televised) which has got shot down repeatedly. Nobody on my team has been able to figure out why, so I can only attribute it to faction bias.
I've noticed a similar wave of rejections over here in Finland, so I don't think it has anything to do with PoGo.
For instance, we have a national baseball field (occasionally televised) in the area which we finally got around to nominating. And it has been rejected repeatedly, while small overgrown signless sports fields get approved all around the region. The field is perfectly visible in the photospheres and nobody on my side can figure out why it keeps getting rejected, so at this point I can only attribute it to faction bias.
Okay besides the generic resubmit message that everyone is providing let's take the conversation into another way.
I think this happened twice in my local OPR community where the reviewers became increasingly harsher and harsher about candidates. The main reason is speculated to a new core review group chat. Usually when a new OPR chat is created people communicate why so and so candidates are good or bad. Initially there were a lot of toxic OPR communities between the different teams however they have since died out because they can't impact the candidates pretty quickly and OPR is very grind heavy.
So why do I say a new community for OPR is the cause still? Well reviewers will become harsher and harsher over time because they don't want to deal with half done candidates. For example, in Puerto Rico it was common to approve a lot of their candidates because they had no portals, over time the spoofing communities realized this and started submitting fake candidates, eventually both teams from the surrounding area realized this and became a lot harsher on reviewing those candidates since they can only still see aerials.
What I recommend for you to do is improve your own submissions to the point where it's hard to think of a reason of rejection if you saw the candidate in review. My local community is afraid that Upgraded candidates are instant rejections because most of the time they submit those candidates they did it half heartedly meanwhile I have nearly all my candidates approved with upgrades.
First, prove your candidate exists there if you can see it via google map aerials or streetview then your good, if you can't see it then do a photosphere and a prime submission secondary photo since some people still think a photosphere is not enough proof for the location. Second, title and description, a good description is tough to pull off. You won't really get good at descriptions unless you are actively reviewing or following a few different OPR communities. What you can do for descriptions is write what the candidates purpose in the community is. Even a playground has information or rules and a small sentence describing it will help it. The third thing is your actual image or photo of the candidate, what you show is important and how you angle a photo is all important. Why? Well depending on where you take the photo you can place the candidate at that location. There is very rarely any amazing pictures you see in OPR, sometimes if your picture is that amazing people will approve it. For example you have a scenic viewpoint and theres only a bench, normally the bench would be an instant rejection if it's a generic bench. Now if you showed me a photo of the sun setting and this bench being the best place to view it, well it's very possible it could get approved.
There's a lot of other small things to pay attention to when submitting but the only way you can notice a lot of these is by being involved in OPR. Hope this essay helps.
I am almost certain this was due to the couple of weeks that google streetview was busted and agents did not take the time to go to the actual google streetview page and just 1* the portals it looks like. I was wondering when this issue would crop up. I guess some people aren't even trusting of prime support photos.
I noticed that too. And the funny thing is that I used PRIME to ask those portals. The ones I requested with redacted were approved easily
In Florence I didn't notice anything like it. Normal approval and rejection routines.
Last week 2 new in the area.
I'm sorry, I don't know what could be the problem, maybe is the area startvtoo dense?
