Ingress requires secure login error.

Using Pixel 4a 5G. Login via Google. Problem began when simply hacking a portal and got the "green globe", which usually means some connectivity issue. Another phone in same car had no problem with hack. Scanner would not respond to anything and had to shut down ingress. On restart, selected "login via Google, and got the login error saying Ingress requires a secure login. Multiple restarts failed to resolve the issue. Shut down and restarted phone. No help. Cleared cache and stored data from Ingress. No help. Uninstalled and reinstalled Ingress. No help. Contacted NIA with issue and was told they "could not duplicate the error and no one else was complaining". No help. Here is where is got weird: Agent was able to successfully login in and start ingress on another phone. And another agent was able to succesfully login and start ingress on the Pixel 4a using his Google account. Removed Google account from the 4a then relinked them. No help. Did a factory reset on the 4a, reinstalled Ingress first and it worked! This tells me that the Ingress installation writes a file to your phone (like a Cookie) that is read-only and is not removed by uninstall. If I am correct, then two questions arise. First, how is it that the uninstall process leaves files behind? And secondly, how is it that the Support Team does not know about this?

    This was more likely an issue with SafetyNet on the phone

    Might be possible that you are using a beta version of the newest version of Android, which isn't released yet

  • I had this problem with my Pixel 5, figured it had to do with running CalyxOS.

    Installed the game on my other phone with LineageOS + GApps and it was working fine, until today... For some reason I get this error again, even on a phone that's running Google Apps.

  • Ok, good news! A new Android/LineageOS version was available for my phone.

    At first after upgrading my phone to the new Android version I tried to run Ingress, but was getting a blanc screen. Wasn't able to login or anything. Tried to delete my cache and data, but it still wasn't working. Decided to do a factory reset with this new Android version and installed Ingress again. And finally, it's now working again!

    I think it had to do with Magisk Manager or old settings stored on my phone. Anyways, glad I can play this game again!
