Tell about your most stupid ingress fail here
π.
Not everything goes as planned.ππ
So i wanted to do a solo refield of a multilayerfield with biggest layer 103 k MU.
I cleared everything, and restored the damaged portals and links.
I went to the anchor portal and quickly checked intel for the last time. All clear and start linking π.
But checked and couldnt link to the upper portal !?
in this quick view (carrousel view) looks like every reso still has XM in it (and thus still full deployed). so kept trying. then later i took portal view and realised some resoΒ΄s faded out π . what made it most fail i knew around which time it fades out and what the state is of the portal π.
so didnt have time to go again and a few minutes after i could have made the refield res started to destroy some of the spine portals. result here : β¬οΈ
Tldr: so up to now this my biggest ingress fail with me just forgetting to recharge the upper portal for some MUΒ΄s π
So whatΒ΄s yours (preferably stories when u have some ingress experience, everyone makes mistakes as a beginner)
PS: to NIA , maybe in the carrousel view it should be more clear if there is still a reso or not

This one's not really that big. It was my first BAF, covering a major US city with two friends. I needed a P5 + 1 link amp for range. This was in the summer of 2014, so VRLA were machined from high-quality unobtanium and SBULs didn't exist yet.
I got to my destination, a town of a few hundred people in Nevada, and we threw the first seven layers without issues. I moved out to my next anchor, built the portal, and couldn't link. It was a P5 with a link amp but I had no linkable portals. I added a second link amp and still didn't have range. On that day I learned that portal range was dependent on the level of the individual resonators, and that not all P5s were equal. I'd run out of R6s and built the portal 8-7-5-5-4-4-4-4. The op was salvaged by glyph hacking the P5s I'd built until I gathered enough R6s to build the rest of the portals but we missed checkpoint on the outer layers.
That was a fun op because we didn't tell the local smurfs we were doing it. Watching the local chats was fun. "Hey, we're under blue! Who did that?" "Surprise! That would be me. And [redacted] and [redacted]."
I never fail anything Ingress-related. I have a plan on top of another plan, it's called a back up plan.
Mine was after recursion. I thought I'd planned it out so well. I had a fun, tried-and-true fielding plan, in a park. I shot it grey as L16, then hit the recurse button, and started loading and linking. Those level-up packages come fast and furious! Down a big hill, I realized one portal still belonged to the opposite faction - with an L7 and L8 reso on it. I had absent-mindedly deleted the L4 (and below) bursters from my level-up packages. I couldn't build an L4 portal to hack more bursters. I wasn't high enough level to use a flip card. No one else was out playing.
I managed to **** it anyway, and got to L7 about 1.5 hour after recursing.
