In the UK (ok, England as I didn't have any keys to help my drone when it was in Scotland) I struggle to see the portals at 1.25km. It takes quite a bit of changing of zoom levels for the portals to come into view - they appear and disappear again, and if I do it too slowly they sometimes do not appear at all.
From pics I have seen of the scanner, I suspect that it is easier nearer the equator. And this would maybe make sense given the way the Mercator projection enlarges northern continents.
Has the key view been fixed? I've been specifically chasing unique portals lately, but the view/overlay seems limiting to those hops over 1km still. I can see stuff out past 1km, but having difficulty actually tapping on it
I think I succeeded in doing a 1.24km jump since the overlaid stuff was taken out, but my drone is currently a long way from me, and I have no keys to that area to check again. UDV chasing too 😁
Yeah, 1.16km away and not able to tap. You can see the portal there at the end of the link, took a little to finally get it to show up. Definitely not fixed for me…

Approximately where do you play?

I'll try again in about 20 minutes when I'm able to jump.

Try it over the LHS of the view, it's where I always do it. Although looking at the time you need a different portal now. LOL
The 5.0km threw me at first.... it always does, even when it is 500km
I tried it everywhere, even behind the text. I never actually moved, so I'll try again here shortly, lol
My husband has managed to select a portal 1.24km away - just above and to left of the portal level number. And jump successfully completed.
I'm surprised he agreed to try... he seldom fires up the scanner anymore.
I've now managed to jump to a 600m distant portal while it was under the text, so it is weird that you cannot select them.
I'm running Ingress 2.82.1, Android 8.0.0 on a Samsung S7 Edge (Exynos chip iirc)
I didn’t think of adjusting the view a tad to get it showing up there, thank you. This was the same jump I tried yesterday. Much success!
@ZeroHecksGiven You aren't going to get many unique drone visits if it takes you over a day to make a jump. LOL
But I'm glad you've been able to select a more distant portal, even if you are finding it more finicky than it was before.
Seeing and selecting a portal that is 2km away is not what I'm requesting.
If you select a portal that is between 1.25km and 2km away, Ingress will report 'out of range'
There are gaps here and there where a longer hop would allow us to explore further without driving there to redeploy.
And it would speed up getting from one place to another. 1 hour per hop can take weeks to go somewhere far.
