Same as me, sadly not had an answer all day. Looks like 220million AP, 4 recursions, however many months of core membership all down the drain. And the bad actors in the game remain largely unencumbered.
I'm not sure that this would work. In order to attach any sort of "recovery" information to an Ingress account, you'd first have to prove that it's yours, yah? Which… if Facebook was your only login option, how do you do that? The reason "everyone" uses SSO options is because it's easier to let someone else worry about storing passwords securely, providing recovery options, etc.
Hi developer what about plan for repair some medal count continues day by day like sojourner
bcuz someone cannot link username or have 1method for aign-in(in this case we have only Facebook oauth) and another way to create choice for login more Facebook or email
With PoGo it was no way for me too but with Wizard Unite I have the way they suggested. Installed Wizard United, login with FB, making fast tutor, go to settings and link newly created Google acc then when linked go Ingress and login with this newly created Google acc linked to Wizard and woiala... it's worked for me.
I really tink you guys should stop leaning on third party authentication providers to begin with and just allow the players to create Game or Niantic specific credentials that you store and authenticate "on premise".
It's been a thorn in my eye since 2016 that I HAVE to use Google to play Niantic games. Simply because this way you're always subject to both Niantic and Google's (or FB's) TOS for game access instead of just Niantic's. And thusly you'll also have a problem if you end up having a dispute with these providers on a user level.
It's not like this doesn't happen either. There are plenty of horror stories of people that lost access to their GDrive of Photo's because something on their drive triggered some mechanism that revoked people's access to their Google account and then poof gone is you data, and Ingress account.
Maybe file a support ticket, and hope for the best. Some five years ago, when server issues caused Agents to lose their Sojourner streaks, Niantic resolved the issues and restored the streaks.
And yet the someone else that has to worry about this service has blocked the facebook access outside of niantics control. Hmm ??
The reason i suggested this was to have it as an overall account protection with nianticlabs who create the games so players can always access there accounts if for some strange reason SSO services goes away or become defunct and the internet becomes fun again without giving every company out there access to your private social identity.
Especially like Facebook, only security purposes is to keep customer data for their own commercial use, privacy means nothing to them. Why we have have to use Facebook account in order to get game access…
Webviews isn't the same thing as authentication via oauth. Unless of course Niantic was doing some really hacky stuff in the background. I consider it quite unlikely that they fired up a webview to do the authentication when they could just do a direct oauth with less effort.
It's possible that ingress was caught in the same net, but if I was them, I would've looked at this and thought "nothing to do with me".
Me too. Hello. Due to a crash in the Facebook login system, I was unable to log into the game for two days. As a result of Ingress's problems, I lost all the time needed to obtain the Sojourner medal. I would ask you to fix this and bring the statistics back to me as it was not my fault.
It seems to be working again now. Sadly I still can’t link any other method other than Facebook because of the issue I mentioned above so I’ve lost my 881 day sojourner and have no resilience if this happens again

i just bought "core" subsciption .....so i have to pay while i cant play on my account....hope they fix it soon!
Any solution for players who can only log in via Facebook and now cannot?
Yes. Login into PoGO with FB, link with Google, then login to Ingress with Google -- it works.
Anything new on the login issues with fb @NianticBrian?
Annoying how I can login to this using Facebook but still not the game 🤬
It doesn’t work for me. I can’t link pogo to Facebook as it tells me there is already an account associated (my ingress account)
I am still unable to play

Actually, I've been trying to figure this out.
Is there no way to get a "native " Ingress login?
I go in via Google, but is there no way to do it directly via the app?
There isn’t now, but it’s time for NIA to think about “native” login method.

Sweden. Same problem. Do we have ETA for the fix?
That’s TBA, I think.
It’s morning now in U. S., so maybe there would be some progress and I hope so.
still think niantic needs to rethink to use their own login system, rely all on third party seems a nightmare when stuff like this happens.
Some way to merge Niantic Accounts together would also be cool.
Still no updates here. About to go into day 3 with no access to my account 😢

If u go this link u can see that niantic must have been aware that this will come to end,
its all due to increased phishing attempts so security reasons behind .

The old SDK uses explicitly webviews which is riddled with XSS afaik; new SDK permits other browsers I believe.

It is working now. 👍
Facebook has reactivated Ingress this morning so you should now be able to use Sign in with Facebook to sign into Ingress.
